Just seen a new Green Paper outlining ways of getting us to pay for our care when we're old and grey, they all need us to fund more of the care side of old age.
Difficult to see how those with illness can contribute more, especially those on lower incomes with other calls on their finnaces, maybe we will become a two tier society as far as health care goes?
or is this just another health scare headline guaranteeing an easy front page column for a failing government?
Cynic? Moi?

Where's the grin?!
I miss the grin!!
I have been having a look at that website too. I don't think we can pay more if we don't have it. To be honest I can see that h'care costs are rising and the woirkforce is diminishing BUT what is the answer eh|?

Hello, Its going to be a difficult situation, I can see that, I suppose more things could be means tested. I don't think its right, but I can see that comeing. Maybe new types of care for eldery people will come along with technology assistance people will be able to stay at home longer, but thats just a dream at the moment. I know hospitals are trying sending people out earlier than ever and providing home visits, its supposed to cut down on infection too.
Sorry, getting a bit too serious!!!

Hi everyone
I used to work in Care Management, not as a social worker but in clerical. When I first started, there were two areas, Kettering and Corby for North Northamptonshire. We had an access team who took initial calls and gave out advise or then passed it on the appropriate team. It was one happy family. Then they decided there was going to be another system, then another system, Would need to write abook to describe it all. I retired last year, not because of all the changes but for health reasons. I visited my old work place the other day and, guess what, it's going back to the original way of working and everyone has to apply for their own jobs again. now, how fair is that. Over the years, people have left jobs because of all the stress but now, we learn they need not have left at all.
And who suffers through all these changes, yes you've got it
the clients who want services, but there is not enough money because the budgets are not large enough or you don't fit the criteria. Now don't get me started on criteria's
