hi all,i went to gp yesterday about the pain in my wrists/hands.
he looked at my hands/wrists & said ''its not carpel tunnel as that wouldnt affect wrists  )so what can it be :?:
my right thumb has become square & have a lump on the end base of thumb.
then the pain is constant in wrists & today my hands are really painful across the knuckles..everytime i extend or move them arms get the electric feeling running from my thumb up to my elbows.
similar feeling to banging elbow(funny bone)but worse.
he has wrote to the hospital for me to get splints for both wrists & told me i need to wear these all day & take them of at night,he says that should help with the pain.then asked when next appointment is with rhymy(thats end of dec).
so got no answers to what it is.i did tell him ive suffered tenosynovitis since 1983 but he didnt comment on this either, proberbly because he hasnt a clue whats causing this :roll:but teno causes more swelling than this.
hope your all having a reasonablely good day & hope the suns shining as it is here.luv debsx

HI I'v got rid of some of the nerve pain in fingers and I've got more control in my hand. The doctor I saw (plastic surgeon) says that the wrist and hand pain is due to arthritis. I had hoped that it would get a bit better, but at least my hands arn't so numb. Still have arm pain and elbow but thats the ulner nerve which is damaged on both sides although I only feel in the left. It can be operated on, but I'm not sure! Maybe your reummy will be able to help, I have splints for when its really bad. You can have physio too. Hope you get sorted. Love Sue

Sorry you have no answers, I hope the splints help and that it isn't too long a wait for them. Did the gp say what he thought it was? I was under the impression carpal tunnel was caused by swelling in wrists, compressing nerves, thats why they prescribe wrist splints? Oh well! Is he referring you to physio? They might be able to help.

i thought that too,but he says not carpel tunnel.
im hoping i dont have to wait to long for splints.but when he talked on his dictophone thinggy he did say i have cronic pain so that might move things quicker.
i wont entertain physio as mine was useless.i have excersise sheets that i try to keep up with.
i see my rhymy in dec so will just see what he says about it.have mentioned it at pain clinic but its got much worse since then, ive been tubigripped forever it seems.
thanks sue if i get any answers i'll let you know.luv debsx

That seems strange, as I mentioned before don't know much about it but as I told you about my friend, she has it and is having both wrists operated on. :?:

hi eck,the gp had a shock when i took off my tubigrip & he saw my deforming squared off thumb.
he didnt hesitate in getting me refered for splints.
i mentioned the tenosynovitis but he doesnt know what it is.
perhaps its the bony bit hitting the nerves or coming from neck or elbows,any1s guess.think thats why he's leaving it to the experts.
he did tell me my MRI scan shows i have prolapse disc in lumber L4 L5  its only took 4 months of fighting to get results  & its my bl...y body

When I had carpel tunnel diagnosed they gave me a nerve test frist. Thats when they decided to operate they also found some nerve damage in my elner nerve, (elbow), on both arms. I'm still thinking about my right hand, they will do that but I wanted to wait a bit. If you are haveing a lot of pain, it could be oa, thats what they say my aches and pains are. I had hoped they would be cured too. but nerve tingles and numbness going is good, especially at night. I hope the rheummy can sort it out for you.
