Hi, how is everyone today? Suffered withdrawal symptoms when the site was down on Thursday night so this is a say or so longer in coming than I would have liked!
I took my painful hip to the doctor on Thursday evening, expecting to be told it was sore because my foot's bad on that side and to be sent away with some stronger painkillers. When he examined it , though, he said a certain aspect on the movement (internal rotation I think but can't remember) was virtually non-existent and I have to go for x-ray on Weds. I pressed him about whether that could mean joint degeneration and he said it could, but of course would know more after x-rays. This is exactly what I didn't want to hear and why I was putting off going in the first place.  On the positive side, though, my new doctor continues to seem very pleasant and helpful. Oh dear! Josie x

Hi, I'm sorry, its hard to know what to say really, but at least you know. The x-rays will show them a bit more and maybe they will be able to offer more help then. I do hope so. Love Sue

Always feel bad when something I know deep down gets confirmed! Hopefully it won't be so bad as I might be thinking - maybe it will get them to finally agree to fusing my toe-here's hoping!! Thanks x

    Hi Josie,

Sorry you've had bad news but at least your doc is trying to help instead of just fobbing you off with the painkillers.

Hope you go on alright with the x-rays.

    Luv Legs :)

I have very recently moved to a new drs 5 mins walk up the road as never liked my old one but GPs are like hen's teeth round here! At the moment I am very pleased with the service - the receptionists even smile! He even told me where best to park at the hospital so it was level access-I don't really need it but appreciated the thought! Hopefully the service won't deteriorate as they take on more patients. Will let you know how I go on-suppose it will take a couple of weeks for the results to get back to dr. Thanks, xx

Best of luck with your x-ray. I think it's better to know what's happening for sure rather than imagining it. Having said that I do hope things are not as bad as you fear. You're right that it can take ages to ger x-ray reports back. What are you doing about extra pain relief at the moment and will you see your gp again for follow up.?

    Hi Rita,
    Hope you are okay today.
He gave me some codeine to take when necessary-I have to be careful with it as it gives me nightmares, but does work for me so I do use it from time to time. My hip has settled a bit from last weekend - I've still got constant pain but it isn't as intense as it was. The doctor said he would contact me when he had the results and I was to make an appointment then. I don't quite know why the thought of hip problems frightens me more than other joints-maybe its because its mainly smaller joints I have affected at the moment, apart from my lower back. Will just have to wait and see  Josie
