    Hi Anne

I am sorry to hear that your back is playing up - horrid isn't it? Let's hope the physio helps you next week, so not long to wait.

Yep, I can well believe dodgy knees can stem from a bad back. The spine is a very important part to our body and we never think about it really until things start going wrong. When we get pain in the spine we get around in the least painful way possible, thus not walking properly causes other joints to start to exclaim :x

    keep smiling

Oooh, my knees were so bad yesterday, really swollen and painful. By evening I could barely get up from sitting :( Its at times like that you fear the worst - like 'is this how its always going to be', 'am I going to lose the ability to walk' etc etc

BUT, today is another day, and although they are not completely pain-free I was pleased to find the pain and swelling was much less when I got up this morning. Needless to say, 'arthur' appeared elsewhere though - very painful wrists and hands, and collar-bone/sternum area swollen :( Pleased to say this was bearable with help from the diclofenac :)

    Hi
I have OA in both knees and often have a lot of pain in my back especially if I overdo things. I was in agony over the weekend. I made the mistake of moving our huge leather settee to vacuum behind it. I paid the price for it. It took two days for me to feel human again. Naturally my hubby went mad because I should leave moving things for him, but I sometimes forget. My vacuum cleaner weighs a ton and just pushing it around was killing me. I had a very clean house but I paid the price big time for it!

My husband went out and came back with a new vacuum cleaner - it's light and easy to push. I'm stubborn and can't just sit around doing nothing all day when he's at work.

I hope you get some release from your pain with the physio.

    Regards

Back ache is quite common with arthritis sufferers caused by hips and knees.Walking sticks relieve my pain as they take the weight off the joints. When I had my THR my back improved immediately but still starts hurting if I walk without crutches for a while.

    Hi Anne,

Any chance of getting in a hot bath to see if it relieves your back - I know it can make me feel much better?

I think, also, that we can get referred pain where knees can be painful even though it's your back that's the problem. I was told, by my surgeon, that referred pain doesn't travel upwards, because of the way nerves react, it will always go downwards.

    Hope the physio helps.
