Disintegration of silicone finger joints

I am 52 and had silicone finger joints implanted in 5 finger joints when I was 17 because I was suffering from multiple epiphyseal dysplasia.

I have been having symptoms of RA now for months and finally yesterday I was given the results of recent tests. I have got RA but the problem I have right now is that the silicone finger joints have disintegrated and the doc wants to fuse the finger joints

Looking for anyone else who has a similar problem or anyone who can tell me about having the finger joints fused and what that entails and how it affects use of the hands after surgery.

Any info would be useful

Thanks

Hello, I am so sorry for the problem you have now, but I suppose, like everything, finger joints only have a limitted life. I don't know anything about the op, but someone on here will be able to help you. It sounds very painful :( I hope you are sorted out quickly,#
