Trying hard to be positive

Hope everyone is having a good a day as possible.
Saw a different GP yesterday who was much better and really seemed to understand, so yesterday was a good day. Gave me stronger co-codamol to take at night and if that doesn't work can go back for something else, maybe injections. That would be my preferred route as I don't want to take too many meds and have bad side effects. Also is referring me to a podiatrist as my feet are so bent that I'm walking on the insides. I think if I could get that improved maybe the other pains wouldn't be so bad as my whole posture would be better.
Still didn't sleep last night, feel I've got to break this cycle of waking every hour. I think the pain was better but I was still waking from habit - so feeling low today and so many things I want to do if only I had the energy. I'm fed up, bored and inclined to feel sorry for myself.
Anyway it has dawned upon me that when I feel like this is the time I most need to be most positive. It's hard but really is helping. I'm determined to do one thing today that I enjoy and makes me feel good about myself, no matter how bad I feel (sorry if I sound like Pollyanna!),

Do you have a hobby like cross stitch? I found if I got myself involved with specialty stitches, you concentrate so hard on that you 'forget' about the pain, so when you feel like you do atm pick up a new project be it craft or anything like that. You don't need a lot of energy for it. Best bit is you get something handmade to hang on the wall afterwards, so you will feel a sense of achievement too. Take Care Kaye

    Hi Kaye
Art is my main thing, was teaching it at a college until recently. Quite difficult because of my hands so doing more photography but that's becoming difficult. I'm working on some projects and trying to visit some places but can't drive at present till ringing in ears and dizziness has been investigated, and walking is also a problem. Determined to get it all sorted asap so I an do more.
I've been knitting all my life and 3 new grandbabies this year prompted me to start again. I hadn't done any for a while as my hands were painful. At first I had to keep resting but now find it wonderful exercise for my painful joints. Baby clothes are lovely to makeas you can have such fun with them - stripes, bright colours, unusual buttons etc. and don't take long to knit. Daren't stop now as it's so beneficial for my hands so my grandchildren are being inundated with clothes!!!!!!

Hey, babies grow so fast you'll be in business for months!! Hope your hands settle down soon, then you can enjoy what you are doing properly. Just think in a few months time all your creations will be keeping other 'little' people warm. You're a star for doing that with pain in your hands.
    Take Care

Thank you Kaye and Deb for your kind words. I'm quite sure I wouldn't be able to have any sort of positive attitude without this lovely group,

    Hi Maud

Well, things are looking better on the horizon for you since your gp appointment yesterday. It makes all the difference if you feel the gp cares a little about you and tries to help. Appears that you have struck lucky. :D So has my friend Kath on this site too, she has seen a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel since her appointment today too.

I agree it is probably habit that is causing you to still wake hourly. Would you be able to go to bed a little later perhaps than normal - do you think that may help?

It is great that you are getting on with the knitting. Knitted baby clothes are so cute.

So pleased to read that you are being positive. May as well be, I am sure one has more energy if one is looking on the rosy side of things than the other way around!

    Hope your day continues well,

    Luv
    Elna x
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Maud and Hazelsmum it's great that you both have hobbies which are both productive and make lovely gifts as well as exercising your joints. I do a bit of knitting myself, at this stage it's for my Grandchildren too.
It's really difficult sometimes to think positively but I like your idea of trying to find one thing every day that makes you smile. I think I'll give that a go myself.
I'm happy to hear you've gotten some stronger tablets from your GP Maud. I see that you have many problems and, it can be a long old haul but hopefully things will start to get a little easier for you in the near future.
Coming on here can help too as I've found.
    very best of luck
