Pain in legs

Hi
Feeling really low at the moment. Had third lot of infusion four weeks ago, had lots of stress due to family and was put on sleeping tablets which basically made me worse to the point where I just did not want to be. Hubby took photographic shop on in March and with the recessions we are struggling and all in all I just feel like running away. I am on steroids, arcoxia, stuff for my stomach, disolupin and tablets for what my husband calls my twitchy legs.
I am so tired but pain in my legs is like tooth ache and when I lay down at night they twitch and I just cannot sleep. Normally start off downstairs on settee for couple of hours and go to bed about 2 a.m. Now for the last couple of days my legs really ache during the day and worse when I am walking, anyone else experienced this, is this part of arthur as well.
Sorry to moan but feeling so fed up with life at the moment

Hi Di
you don't need to appologise about moaning - it's a big bit of what this forum is for isn't it?
You do sound to having a rough time of it at the moment. My bro set up doing photographic work LAST january and has had to go back to mangement because less people can afford luxuries like photos so much at the moment. He still wants to do it though and gets work still that way. Shame for your hubby if it is what makes him happy.
Is it restless legs you have? I don't have it myself but have read about it and it sounds very unpleasant.
I think I'd be down too if I were you. Those sleeping tablets didn't help, but would another be better or is there anything new they could try for your legs?
I hope another person on here has something to suggest, but I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better very soon.
Take care

Thanks Toni for kind understanding.
I am anaemic so I know that can give restless legs. Have to see my rheumy in three weeks time so I will see what she says. Trouble is I have iron tablets but they tend to make me constipated so dont like taking them.
Let's hope someone else has some ideas. Hubby loves his work and is so good and I try and help where I can but have not been able to work for a year and sitting at a computer is so uncomfortable sometimes.

Hi Di,
I can't help you except to say I agree with what Toni has put and also I wondered if maybe you have some nerve pressure? I really hope things get sorted for you soon and your rumo will do something. I find sometimes if I make a list of things I think of and remember to take it with me I can ask what I want to ask. A ((( ))) in the meantime. Take care, Cris0 -
Hi Di
Sounds as if things are tough with your health and the business and my heart goes out to you. Any chance of you getting some help for yourself? Ring up Citizens Advice. Are you involved in the business? If not you may be able to claim ESA which was formally known as Incapacity Benefit. Direct Gov online has lots of informantion online. Do you have OA or RA?
Can you see your GP and explain how you are feeling? It must be tough especially if you're anaemic. Ask your GP for lactulose you can take it in liquid form and it stops you from being constipated. If you need your iron tablets you should take them. I take co-dydramol and anything codeine based saps all the moisture and you need to take something to relieve the constipation. I think you can have this in tablet form too.
Don't worry about complaining - it's healthy for you to off load your problems and I'm sure you'll receive some great advice.
In the meantime take one thing at a time. There's always a solution to a problem - it's finding the solution!
Warm regards

Hi Di
I'm so sorry to hear what a tough time you are having at the moment. It is hard enough to cope with your health problems without the worry you have got with your husband's job. I do hope things will pick up soon for him. Do people still have family portraits done for Christmas? Maybe he will get more orders soon.
I get very achy legs sometimes, and find it difficult to get comfortable in bed. I've got a knee cushion which I put between my knees, and that does help. But the restless legs problem is more difficult to deal with. Does a warm bath at bedtime help to relax you? I find that reduces the restlessness. If my legs ache a lot during the day, I just have to try to rest them if possible. I also use a walking stick.
It is good that you can post on here if you are feeling so down. You can rely on everyone to understand and sympathise with you.

Hi Sharmaine
I have RA and I receive higher rate incapacity benefit. I dont do much for the business as I am so limited, i did build the website at home and I keep it up to date and have made up stationery etc so I help there.
I will mention to the doctor and get some of the stuff you are talking about. Trouble is I have problems with my eldest daughter who has a 3 years old boy and girl of 4 months, I cannot help much as her and her partner have a very volatile relationship and I have lent them a lot of money and dont think I will get it back, he has lost his job so that is not helping me as we need all the money we can get at the moment and I have to be so careful what I say otherwise it leads to rows and I am so tired of it all.
Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Di
Perhaps you should have a word with dachshund - Joan. Joan has pains in both legs most of the time and the gp does not seem to know what is causing them.
I suffer from restless legs any old time really but mainly in the evenings when I sit down or night in bed and it is horrid. Joan says hers is not that. I have to get up and walk around and sometimes have a bowl of cereal and then I generally get back to sleep.
I do feel very sorry for you both because it is so annoying.

Oh Di
That is awful if you've lent money and not got it back. That can really lead to trouble can't it?
It hapened to me once too - family - over £1000 in all. I never got it back and I so needed it at the time - I had had my back surgery, was off work and a single parent at the time.
I can only say that I never got mine back and if I were you I would try very hard to write that money off mentally otherwise everything that goes wrong will lead back t that and it will eat away at you.
The only other thing is to ask for it and accept it in regular instalments, but i bet you can't do that if you are like me?!
I hope some things do get resolved soon and in the meantime you do have us to let off steam to.
Take care

Hi Joan
Have tried the pillow between my legs but doesn't seem to work, nor does a bath. Maybe it is this restless legs that people talk about.
I feel that possibly with all the stress that medication is not working as I believe RA runs alongside stress. I just have to stop moaning and try and be positive. People do have portraits done for Christmas and I am working on ideas at home for things we could offer for Christmas, at least that keeps me occupied.
My feet are also so sore today, as I have been in the car for a while sitting in one position, We had to take my other daughter to Heathrow and then we had puncture on way home, deep joy.
Thanks for your kind help.

Hi Elna
I will have a work with Joan and see what she says. I know what you mean about getting up in the night and walking around, i find myself doing that quite ofter, then I get hungry cos I don't eat a lot in the day so I have something to eat and then try and go to bed. Sometimesd it works sometimes it doesn't but it is so horrible as you cannot control them.

Hi Toni
I know my daughter is really trying to get the money together. She is owed some money from the housing benefit people but they are taking so long to sort it. we lent her money at the beginning of the year to pay the rent and then it went on and it is about £2000. She feels so bad about it as she knows how ill I am and I feel awful having to ask but we so desperately need that money especially as the business is not doing well, I think all in all the stress has really got to me.
It is so nice to know there are people out there who I can share my moans with.
