Hi
Had my appointment yesterday with the orthopaedic people who did the key hole on my knee. Bsically he said I have wear and tear and that I was too young to be considering further surgery such as knee resurfacing or knee replacement, he gave me a synvisc 1 injection which is to lubricate the joint and stop the bones rubbing together. Unlike the regular synvisc injections where you have one a week for three doses this one is injected just once and from what I can research, lasts up to 6 months.
Now what if this doesnt work?? What would they do?? If I am too young how old do I need to be to have my life back?? I am 29.

    Hi Bailey

Hope it works for you. Why think ahead already on what will happen if it does not work? It may well work. Why not wait and see and if it does not, then start thinking, what is next for me?

I think it is great that at your age the ortho department you are with are doing their best for you with alternatives first. At least they are not sending you away to get on with it.

    I wish you well

    Luv

    Hi Bailey,

If it doesnt work then I hope they will look at other options including surgery if that turns out to be the only option.I suppose it is because a joint replacement only has a shelf life of 10 to 15 years (what I have been told)and a second replacement is never as easy or as good(although there are prob exceptions).
I hope this will work enough to give you a better quality of life.

    Regards and stuff Tkachev

Hello, Good luck, I hope the procedure helps you feel better. :)

I know people who have been told they are too young for surgery, but if this dosn't for you. If not, make sure you tell them and make them understand how your knee is effecting your life, then they should consider an early knee replacement. Lots of young people do end up having them as i'm sure they will post and let you know.
The best of luck, Sue :)

I guess I am being bit negative. The Dr said it will take a few days to kick in so I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it gives me some benefit.

I've had steriod injections in my wrists for carpel tunnel and they took about 2 weeks before I noticed anything, but the doc had warned me in advance, so it didn't bother me too much. Perhaps yours will be like that, I hope it is. I hate having to wait, I'd just given up with my wrists when I relised they where a lot better. Good luck anyway, Love Sue

:D That's the spirit, Bailey, keep positive and give the op time to work. :D If you have been told to take it easy, please do as instructed too, however difficult that may be.

Please let us know how you go on, :)

    Best wishes,
