Here we go again, been a about a month now and knees have been really good but today I’m really starting to suffer if I stand up for more than a minute or more, why or how can OA seem to go away then come back for gods sake, HOW CAN IT DO THIS!!!!?????.
I don’t know if I should call in sick tomorrow as I will probably get into trouble, I have to see the company Doctor next week but I feel it’s flippin pointless all he will do is go over the same old crap, I’m too sick to do my old job am considered disabled by my work OC health but I’m not sick enough to pensioned off, but if I dare go sick at some point I’m going to be in deep deep trouble for taking to much sick even though I have a degenerating serious illness?!!, it’s a living nightmare and a classic a catch 22 if ever there was one???, I’m not sure to laugh or cry.

Hi mellman
I am not sure if you are expecting any replies or you just felt like a rant and feel better for writing it down. I am not sure either if you should laugh or cry but I would laugh if I was you, as that is more pleasant perhaps out of the two.
If you are considered disabled by your work OC but not sick enough to be pensioned off, if you are too sick to do your current job, and they cannot find another within the company, suitable, then you will just have to go sick when necessary and get certificates from your gp. Not much they can do about that is there if these are their views.
No doubt you will call in to see your company doctor next week and if he goes through the same old crap so can you, in reply.
Good luck with that and I hope you go out of your current flare soon.
All the best,

Hi, I don't know what your companys occy health can recommend, but it does seem very strange that the company refuse to retire you as too ill to work, yet at the same time, not well enough to do your job, I thought if this was the case, the company should find you work that you can do, if they are unable to do this, I thought they would have to dismiss you for ill health. I am certainly no expert on the rules and regulations, but I have been through this and as a result, retired though ill health. Maybe the CAB can help you, or your union, if you'r in one. Good luck, Love Sue0

You can get advice from the Equality and Human Rights Commission by contacting them if you are disabled and your employer dismisses you for taking time off sick for a reason connected with your disability, your employer could be breaking the law.
You can contact them by telephone, text phone, letter, email or fax. Info at http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/our-job/advice-from-our-helpline/

I know this is hard but try not to worry about work. I had issues recently and I can't begin to tell you how bad my arthur was during this time. I am sure it was the worry and the stress. Looking back I wish I'd just calmed down a bit as everything turned up in the end my way. Hope you feel better soon.
Take care

Hi guy’s and galls thanks so much for all your replies, I’m sorry it was more of a rant as normal!!, sorry to bang on about it but I’m new to this illness but it’s really strained my sanity, I have never been so confused and worn out before, I just don’t understand how I can walk the dog and generally toddle about without any real symptoms one day then the next I have terrible pain that grows and grows as soon as I stand up, take this morning I hadn’t really slept due to the pain, I got up around 4am for a pee and by the time I got to the toilet my right knee felt like a weight was slowly crushing it and the longer I stood up the worse it got.
Anyway to hell with the world I spent the whole day in bed and now feel a tad better although the knees are giving me problems still no change there then!!.0 -

Don't worry, that's what we are here for! I am the same, how is it before my illness was diagnosed (and was in advanced deterioration stage but not knowing) I could walk 26 miles and cartwheel round the garden? As soon as I had my son and my illness became apparent I can't even walk 100 metres or even bend down to pick something up, let alone cartwheel! Such a change and so much to adapt to. It takes time to adjust and trust me, I've had my rants on here.0 -

My ex-boss told me she had never had a day off sick and she was 59, I answered by saying how lucky she was to be so well! She then told me that she went to work whatever she had wrong, sickness, colds, whatever. She had worked her way up from being a care assistant to Senior Manager, at homes for the frail and elderly. In my mind, I was thinking, how many clients she had killed off or put in hospital. Harsh words, but working when in pain and ill puts you off the job, I made medication mistakes, nothing serious, did less than my fair share and did sometimes hurry people lose my cool. I loved my job, and knew I was short changing people, so I took time off. As for working with infectous illnesses, thats grossly unfair to patients and the rest of the staff. Spreading germs left, right and centre! Sorry, I've gon off on one again!!! What I really mean to say is its not something to feel guilty about when you take time off ill, its SENSIBLE. All the fuss about people taking too much time off makes me cross, it is unfair and adds to the worries of people who are already ill. :?
Tale care, sorry to go on, love Sue0 -
Hi Mellman
Sorry to hear about your problems. In the end I just gave up work because I couldn't drive my car or carry on doing my full time job. Taking all my meds made life hard (just getting up in the morning was tough). I had hoped to get a little job nearby but my husband said we should try and manage without me working as I was getting worse not better. So we shopped around got a better mortgage deal; stopped SKY; changed our broadband and phone suppliers; made savings on insurances etc. I was also saving about £400 a month on petrol and car parking. We've managed quite well and I also applied to ESA and I was successful. It's not much but it has helped. I think if my job was nearer home I would have tried to work part-time. In the end I did what was best for me. There's no way I can work now.
I hope you find something less arduous in your present employment and maybe the OT or CAB will be able to give you more advice/help/support with this. You can not help being sick.
It must be tough. There is always a solution to a problem you just need to search for it and hopefully your employers will be supportive.
Do take care and good luck.
