Hi all, hope you're all coping and enjoying todays sunshine :o)
Just wondered if anyone who has been pregnant with RA experienced, getting massive very early on & in considerable pain? I have my scan next week but I am the size of a small country already and I feel I have no muscle strength to hold my body in a better posture! My bust has doubled and my tummy extends even further!!! Weird thing is, the most I can be is 9 weeks! I just wondered if anyone who's been in this position felt like this as I was wondering if the inflammation was all over my body, making me this swollen! and yes the pain is agony............mainly spine!!!!( feels like trapped nerves everywhere)......... any ideas? How long did this last for you? Ps, only on Pred' 5mgs and paracetemol, so feeling the pinch!!! Did anyone get told to not take pred? Cheers guys, love to you all xxx :o)

    Hi Tam

I had to do a double take on your title. I thought it said Pregnant with Rat :!: :!:  Just for a moment I thought the arthritis drugs were having a strange effect on you

Sorry I can't answer your questions, never having been pregnant in my life, unfortunately, but have you considered that there might be more than one baby if you are very large already :?: :?:

As a mother of twins ( adopted ) I can recommend having two at once, but then I didn't have to carry them for 9 months or give birth to them. But seriously, I am so pleased for you, and I hope other people can help to answer your questions. I hope all will go well with the scan, and with the rest of your pregnancy.

    Hi Tam

I thought you could be carrying twins or is it bloating or constipation perhaps? Why not see your gp to put your mind at rest? Have your had your first scan yet or is that coming up very soon?

I do hope your feel more comfortable soon.

    Luv

Hi, I hope you are ok. Must admit it does sound like twins!!! I had my last one at 39, 3 months from 40, but was free from RA then, so dont know about symptoms or meds. i know many people say they feel free of symptoms during pregnancy, but unfortunately they come back after the birth. When you have yr scan I'm sure they will put yr mind at rest. Also what about phoning the clinic for advice on pregnancy? They should have some info you can read etc. Good luck, I envy you to a certain degree!!!! Although i have 4 children!!! I look after children too, so must be a glutton for punishment!!!! Take care, please keep us posted, Jay x :D

    Hiya,
Had my youngest at 37 and had been diagnosed with RA for the previous 6 years. Was on Sulphasalisine and prednisolone when we decided to try but had to come off the Sulpha some months before being the "all clear" to try. Took the pred for most of the pregnancy but in small dose came off it completely for a month towards the end. Was also huge (never got rid of it but that could be age as well).
Hope it all goes well and keep us updated.

Hi I don't have RA, but OA, I didn't know I was in the advanced stages in my two recent pregnancies or that I even had it.

I am 5ft but I grew large very quickly, people always thought I was further along which in my first pregnancy really got my hopes up as I wasn't sure of dates. I was in the second and knew they had it underestimated by two weeks, my son came 4 weeks early weighing 7lbs so probably not early at all. I was in such shock after going over the first time 10 days as they say once late always late.

I thought my size was due to my height but maybe it was related to the arthur? Hope everything is progressing well, it will be your scan soon, that takes lots of worry away from your shoulders and also seeing the little one moving and how clear the picture is at 12 weeks makes it seem so real.

I was pregnant at 40 after 5 years of RA.I cant remember feeling in any increased pain.We moved in with the partners parents because we were having an extension built. My son is autistic so I was just trying to deal with him.I remember being really, really tired and not getting any support or sympathy but thats just the way his family are(my own mum died the year previously).I think the tiredness was the worst thing I had to deal with and that was really difficult because I was expected to keep control of my son and do my share of housework.I remember being asked to peel veg on fathers day(I was about 4 months)and wanting to scream at them and throw the whole b....dy lot over their heads cos I was so tired!)
    Take care Tkachev
