Hi folks
Ive been injecting methotrexate for 6 weeks as well as taking other drugs for my RA. I injected on Monday (increased to 20mg), on Tuesday my oh had to carry me down stairs at 4.30am as I was in considerable paid and extremely stiff. Usually this wears off after a few hours, but it just got worse, even had to wee on a potty, could'nt walk or get upstairs.(Anyone else done that, please tell me i'm not the only one). Anyway, woke up Wed and had absolutly no stiffness or pain. Couldn't believe it!!
Saturday now and still very little pain and no stiffness. YIPPEEEE!
Does this mean the injections are working?
I'd love to hear your stories.
Take care

It has taken some time to get a feeling that the MTX is working.
Mine has been increased to 20 mg from 15. Although the feet and hands are not so swollen now (except the carpel tunnil in my left) there are other areas like my knees, hips and shoulders that seem worse.
Like you, I do get considerable pain the day after the injection, but not as bad as you describe. I think that needs checking out.
Are you taking the folic acid?

Just to reassure you...I have put a towel on the floor many times for a wee cos I couldnt get up stairs, have even used the kids nappies when pregnant as had a very weak bladder and needed to keep going but couldnt face the stairs(at partners parents house they have stairs downstairs).

I didn't respond well to MTX, but it does sound like it's working for you.
To join in on the potty issues: I've had flares where I've crawled to the toilet and it's taken me a good half hour to move all of 4 metres. I've fallen asleep on the loo because I couldn't get back off it again, I'd stiffened up that much!0
