Hi all can anyone tell me the best thing to do if you have a flare is it a) stay in bed and hide until it passes, b) drag yourself downstairs and plop you flipper on the sofa and make yourself feel better by watching Jeremy Kyle lecture brain dead numpties all day whilst getting the war office to make me large cups of T and feed me loads of biscuits and pain killers, or is it c)get up and force yourself to move about even though it feels like your legs will explode any minute and you have rats chewing at your knee joints and you are hallucinating due to way to much Tramadol?. :?

Hi Mellman
I would think, whatever you find the most comfortable with the options you have given. Probably not a good idea to eat loads of biccies if you are not exercising aye? Tempting though it is! Best to sleep off the hallucinations. When you are asleep you are not in pain. So the choice is yours if you take that road, bed, settee, or floor, whichever is the most comfortable and out of everyone's way. No nagging from the war office then.
I do hope you feel a little brighter very soon.

Having spent many weeks doing 'A', or 'B'.
I suggest 'C'.
For me, it hurts just as much being idle and feeling very sorry for myself, as it does getting off my sorry 'A£$e' and moving about.
When I've active, I seem to do/find things that help take my mind off what my bodies doing.
Thats a 10 - 65 good buddy. (yer sad eh)

I know you hide under yer duvet pixyandfaries you were entrenched there the other day when you had a flare it was in one of your posts!,I like the idea of using your nipper as a goffer I will have to try that with ours mind you it's me that normally does all the work, some days I sound like my parents, turn the flippin light off when you leave a room and why is your mate phoning you now when you have been at school with them all day,and are you still on the dam phone, see I'm off again!.0 -
HI Melman!!!
I love it!!!
Jeremy Kyle every time for me!!!
Seriously we are all different and I tend to think - rest a bit (that's where Jezza comes in handy!) with all necessary pain releif and ice packs.
Then start to do a bit - not too quickly.
Hope you feeel a bit better soon
take care

Hi I have OA. Even so it still seems to have a type of flare every now and then, when all my joints seem to hurt! I would be tempted to stay in bed, but for me lying down is often more uncomfortalbe than moving a bit and getting the joints going. I don't do anything much in the way of housework, but just wander rouind and if its nice, go into the garden and wander for a short time. That makes me tired, so I can come in and either go to bed and sleep a while or sleep on the sofa.
Love Sue0
