Hi Jaspercat I have had a mobility car for the last 9 years and its been great you swap your mobility for a car its fully serviced and maintained you get breakdown cover and insurance as well If you need adaptations and you are on a low income they will help you with a grant. I have found motability to be helpful and easy to talk to at all times
If you have any particular questions please ask
    Debbie
I get my new car on 25th Sep so am looking forward to that

I'm in love with my motability car. I've had a VW Golf for the past two years and its been really good. Servicing is really easy, in fact 'I had it serviced a couple of weeks ago and they told me I need new tyres. All I have to do is go to kwik fit and they'll change them. There's no charge.

There are two issues I've got:
    1) They forgot to send my new tax disc so I had to chase it up.
    2) The deposits can be quite steep but you can get a deposit free car if money is an issue.

    I'd really reccommend it!

Hi, My neice had one up until she had to give up driving, now she gets the allowance and puts it towards her husbands car running cost and having the odd taxi. She really loved it and was quite upset when it went, but she couldn't manage it anymore and it just sat in the garage. Now she has got used to the allowance and likes the indepence of that and not having to worry about driving!
I think they are really great. Love Sue

Try Nationwide autos I think they are actually better than the mobility offers. They also maintain the car but you do have to put a deposit down which usually equals three months payments. They have deals on every month and some are really fantastic. I found some better prices on there than the mobility offers. The Nissan Note eg is only £130 a month with them, fantastic value and you would still have some of your mobility money left.

Hello, That sounds a good deal, is it leasing or are you buying it - not that it matters, I'm just curious. Love Sue

Hi Sue you lease it over 3 years then swap for a new one! The Citroen Picasso is £150 on there just now. Really good price.

Hi all, I dont drive myself, but my neightbour get the high rate of mobility and medium for care. She has recently got a mobility car (dont know what it is, as no idea on makes etc.) she keeps phoning the DWP asking where her dla money is. Just wondering if she would lose the payments due to the car, or like she thinks, still get the care rate paid into her account. Sorry, I dont understand alot about it, she had to pay £300 towards the car if that makes any difference. Thanks Jay
p s when she phones they say its down to another department???

Blimmy that sounds Great. No maintenance worries if something goes wrong, fantastic. We've paid out a bomb this year on the cars, just bits and bobs, nothing fantastic, but even so it all mounts up. Thanks well worth thinking about. Love Sue

Yes you are right Jordan, when you get a car, you lose your mobility component as it goes to the auto dealer. But she should still get care paid I'm sure you only lose mobility component. As the care would be significantly less it is possible something has come out of her bank like a direct debit and she hasn't noticed. I get alot of calls from people asking why their payments are missing, some very high and they have been paid but the person didn't think so as stuff had come off.

Sue, they are wonderful, I have been using them for years as has my family. I'm very into the Nissan Quashqai just now, really thinking of getting that but maybe will wait until Crimbo has passed what with us having 2 and 1 of them with massive wish lists already!

Hi you pay the mobility payment for your car the care componant stays the same this is paid to you as normal.
One of the advantages of motability is that on your breakdown cover you have priority if you need to phone them they are usualy with you within twenty minuets real quick.
You also have all of your insurance for the 3 years.
I have found it brilliant. :D:D:D

    Hi Jaspercat,
I had a quick look at the car site last night and its fantastic, I never drempt their'd be so many to choose from.... I would've showed my o/h, but he was deeply engrossed in watching 'Wakeing the Dead', so as I did't want to join them (the dead, that is) I'v left it for tonight. :!: Thanks for sharing the information. I hope you are feeling a bit better today, its so wet here and probibly cold, but I'm all wrapped up in my warm, fleecy dressing gown  I will get dressed later, honestly.
    Love Sue

Hi, Just one word of caution.

If you are a couple and one of you has a motability car do remember that, should you lose the mobility component (or worse, the recipient dies) the car will have to go back.

If you use your mobility component to BUY a car yourself, then that will still be yours whatever :)

Hi Sue, I was surprised by the choice and range of cars, I really wanted another Skoda, but the Skoda garage here in Macclesfield is rubbish, I hope that you are dressed by now, very cold and breezy here, where is the warm weather they promised? love Jaspercatxx

hi jasper, yep i'm on the mobility and i went thro motability and chose a Kia Ce'ed, no deposit and it just takes your total allowance each week, all i do is pop diesel in it, everything else is down to motability, had a bulb go last week.....down it went, no problems and got it changed, i have had the car 2 months and already done 2500 miles in it !!! will get it changed every 3 years, think i will stick with Kia as its a fab car, the doors open 70% wider as standard and theres bags of room in the back and the boot is huge, really nippy too...go for it if you can. all the best Sally.x :D
