now, I wonder how many of you knew what the subject of this post was going to be about
having had no response from the message left with my GP this morning, I decided (and I'm not saying this is something anyone else should do - or recommending it either) to follow the doseage instructions on the movicol for "faecal impaction". Which is to take 8 sachets within 6 hours. This can be done, apparently, for up to 3 days.
So I thought, well, it can't be THAT dangerous or it wouldn't be on sale without a prescription.
Anyway, it started to work pretty quickly, and let's just say that I've spent quite few visits in the bathroom and feel considerably lighter.
Pretty powerful stuff, all in all, and hopefully I can go back to the normal doseage now and stay regular.
The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the epidural injections I had the other week have aggravated the effects of the pain meds.
There, I'm sure you all wanted to know all about that

Drum roll! Of course I knew what you were talking about! So pleased you have been.
I think you are exactly correct in your diagnosis of why you were having great problems. Who needs docs!
Let's hope you will be back to"normal" now -and we can put this thread to bed! I bet you do too.
We will all remember what meds to take and will never forget you either!!

what a sad crowd we are...celebrating bodily functions
I don't think anyone else would appreciate quite the significance of something like this

Luxury...................Daily Mirror torn into 4... lol.
I told a friend about your 'troubles'. Couldn't believe complete strangers could talk about things like that........
Come to think of it 6 weeks ago I wouldn't.

that's the beauty of the internet, I think...the anonymity is a sort of shield....plus there's the issue of shared troubles ie our common health issues.
I believe nothing brings people closer together than shared pain...sad as that is.
I already feel as if I've made loads of friends on this forum0 -
Well done Eva
I am so sorry but I should have mentioned using the movicol in high dosage.Mylittle girl suffers from impacted bowel, she last went in July and the regime is 3 sachets of movicol for 3 days, down to 2,down to one.She sees a consultant about it so dont worry anyone.
Yeah the things we talk about on here...thats why we have got funny names to hide behind!!Mind you it is such a relief to get things off your chest and getting sensible answers from people in he same boat.
All the best Tkachev. XNever be bullied into silence.

if i'm honest poo has become one of my specialist subjects, if i went on mastermind!!
i'm so glad you feel better now, if i see someone in the supermarket buying masses of toilet rolls i'll say hi, lol, sorry!!!

Hi, Congratulations 'Do or die' as they aptly say, but 8 sachets My goodness me, that was brave. Well, we all know the answer now. I'm so glad that you are feeling better, though, we've laughed about it, but it does make feel awful.
Take care, love Sue0 -
Ha ha, result indeed. I have my Gabapentin and they do the job and I was never a frequent visitor before. The hubby used to say I was ill because I could easily go ten days without a visit and not be bothered. But now that I'm in the frequent visitor's club I'm not going back. Still won't go in work though, mental and bodily block happens the minute I step in the place. Plus I hate going in when someone else has been in before, especially in the womens.0

Hi Sue
Be careful , Sue, because that person may be buying loads of toilet rolls as stock for their place of work. They soon disappear in a large office block especially when peeps nick them!
Now, how do I know that, not about people nicking them but about toilet rolls being used up very quickly in office toilets.

well, I'm glad we've all had a good laugh and got to know each other better
on a more serious note, I'm still feeling the "effects" a little bit today - a lot more gurgling in the intenstine, have already been 2 or 3 times...which goes to prove this stuff takes a lot longer to get through the system than we realise. I don't think I'll be taking any more today...
Oh, and my GP finally managed to call me back this morning, "sorry, don't know what happened yesterday....I seem to be going bonkers with my messages...." yeah, right. So I sweetly asked his advice on what I'd already done and he said "oh yes, that should be OK...I haven't read the leaflet, is that what they say in it?"
???!!!!!?????
not exactly confidence inspiring, is it?0 -
TYPICAL!!!
well I am glad things are settling for you and hope that now you will be able to get into a rugular pattern!

Is Pixie related to your GP?
Don't know what we'd do without you; scatty isn;t the word!0 -

i have my 'slot' every morning, well most mornings, once hubby has left for work, ellie is ready for school and sarah is sat with ellie! if i miss my 'slot' i can't go, usually until the next day, sad really!!
as for public toilets, firstly i now only use disabled toilets because, well for several reasons!
1)the toilets are usually a bit higher than normal one so easier to get on / off!
2)i can take the pushchair in, normal ladies cubicle are tiny, no space to manoeuvre and no space for sarah!
3) more private!! like you said, iy's awful going in after someone ese, yuck lol!
it's hard going just for a wee when you have a little one, some nany changing rooms have a loo to, but not normally, how do people, like dads manag to go whilst out?
but i could never poo anywhere but in my own loo, how odd really!
sue (rhymes with poo!)0 -
