Other hip!!

Hi everyone
I have just got back from Wrightington Hospital, where I was having a review of my new hip and discussing my other hip. It is nearly 7 months since my LTHR, and all is well with that hip. It just tells me off if I try to do too much!! But as I have hip dysplasia and OA in back and a bit in other hip I needed to find out what his plan would be.
Since I went back to work, and have been out a bit more etc... I have noticed a deterioration in my right hip, catching, giving way `clunking` (loudly) and pain.
I saw the Reg and then the consultant who says he doesn`t want to wait for this hip to become so badly affected by OA as other one was, and said my shallow acetabulum was my main culprit at the moment. I might have a labral tear or micro fracture in the socket? Anyway, decision was to refer me to a specialist consultant who deals with pelvic problems/deformities etc.. (like dysplasia) I will need a CT scan to assess the full picture and am possibly looking at PAO (peri acetabular osteotomy)
Oh! And I saw my gynae Dr today and starting on injections for my gynae problem with a view to a hysterectomy in New Year. Good eh?!!
I feel a bit strange now, as everyone is at work and I`m here with a laptop!
Hope you are all having a good day !!
NB

Hi NB, Just read your latest news  not what you wanted to hear. So, where does that leave you now, in terms of a timescale when to have the PAO? Youve got more of a medical background than me, but the forum on Facebook seems quite positive about the op; it might be another op, but it may give your other hip a more prolonged "life". I must admit to having worries about my future as reguarding my other hip; it seems normal on the xrays, but its always a worry. Im nearly 6 weeks post op now, we visited Chatsworth House on Sunday, the most Ive walked in 4 years! Really glad I had the op, whatever the future holds  Hope you continue to do well with your recovery jk

    Hi Nearly,

Sorry this has come your way so soon. I know you wanted a bit of a break in between the 2 but in a way he is probably right to do it before it becomes so bad. I hope once they have a better idea what is going on they will come up with a plan of action for you that will help to put it all right.

A ((( ))) for you and hang in there cus things will sort out. Cris x

    Hi jk
I`m glad that things seem to be going well with your new hip. It is good to get out and about isn`t it?! The stuff I have read about PAO sounds positive, but I think the recovery time is much longer than for THR. However if it means by having a PAO it is a one off op it will be worth it. I will need to talk to the new specialist about that though.
    Thanks for your reply x

    Hi Toni
Hope that the painting is going well, do you want to do a bit here?
I have had a bit of time to think this afternoon and agree it is a plan. And it will be a more detailed plan after the CT scan etc..
I think it will be better to do something sooner rahter than later with my right hip, as I don`t think i could cope with going through all i did with my other one again.
hope you are doing ok x

    Hi Cris
Thanks for your words of wisdom. In a way, I knew what he would say today. Especially as I have more symptoms in my right hip than last time I saw him. It will be a good idea to pre-empt how bad it could get and try to save my own bone/hip this time if I can.
I think it was a bit much having both orthopaedic and gynae appointments together and both needing to move on with the `plans`.
I am concerned about what work will have to say when I tell them, (not that I am yet!). I have only been back since June!!
Hope you are doing ok, a ((()))) back at ya!

    Hi
Well stopped painting as it was hurting my neck/shoulder, but i did a bit and will do a bit more tomorrow.
Glad you have got your head round it now - it will all sort out and work are stupid if they hadn't worked out that the other might well need doing!!!
Meant to say earlier I hope the gynae thing gets sorted very soon :)
    You take care for now

    Hi NB

Sorry this has come around so soon but it could make things much easier for you in the long run. How long do you have to think about it? I'm sure you will get your head around it and cope as you have before.

    Love

    Hi Vonski
Thanks, I`m not sure about when I will have to decide. I will just wait for the appoitment with the pelvic specialist orthopod, and take it from there. I`m not sure about the `me coping` thing!! I think I just muddle along

    Hi Nicola,

Glad to hear you got fairly good news today and that you can get the PA. That is good news. As you know I had hoped to be suitable for it but not to be. Anyway glad to hear the other hip is doing ok. Its a shame that the gyne prob has not settled down and that you have it to think of on top of everything else.

Anyway look forward to a catch up soon.

    Take Care

    Hi all
I have spoken to my team leader about what I found out yesterday, and she was very good. I am still being reviewed by Occy health, and HR want to be updated on me, so thats what we will do tomorrow.
My hip has been very sore today, probably complaining at the positions it was put in during the examination!! It kept giving way when I was walking which is a bit embarassing as it makes me look like I`m drunk!! Or trying to walk in really high heels , when I only wear flats.
I`m just going to try and get on with things til I get the appointments through. I can`t do anything else really!
