Hello, Welcome to the site. I'm so sorry you are in such pain. I have OA in my hip and spine, but not as badly as you by a long way. It must be very frightening to think you may face such a big operation, but maybe the injections will work and you'll cope without it!

At 60 you are still young, to have so much pain, and loss of independance, I hope you have lots of people to help you. I expect someone who has had the op will be along soon and be able to give you more information than I can. Good luck, Love Sue#
I hope you find this site as useful as I do, its good to discuss things with people who understand.

    Hi Joe :D

Welcome to the site. I have oa too. Snap! I am sorry to hear that with the pain from your spine you cannot walk too far. Let's hope the injections you will be having sorts you out. :)

We all try to support one another on here with help and sympathy so you have arrived at the right place to meet others who all know what it is like to have arthritis in its many forms, to a greater or lesser degree.

Let's hope you do not have to have this major operation. One step at a time aye?

I look forward to seeing your name on the site again soon, either asking questions, helping others or on the chitchat zone for some lighter entertainment, should you so wish.

Please pass on my best wishes to your wife. 39 years is a long time. We are up to 33 years. :D

    Luv
    Elna x

    Hi Joe
I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I hope that soon you will get some relief from it.

I have OA in knees; hands and right shoulder but hearing your story has made me wince.

I'm sure someone on this site will be able to share their experiences with you. In the meantime a very warm welcome to you.

Take care and I hope those injections help soon.

    With kind regards

Hi Joe and welcome to the forum.. I too suffer with O/A and had spinal surgery 9yrs ago for nerve impingement , not so serious an op as you seem to need though but it did do the trick painwise, unfortunately my Right hip then deteriorated and I needed a Hip-Replacement 5yrs ago and with my Spinal O/A , wrist, knees and hip I had to take ill-health retirement at that time.. the Hip replacement was very successful but now 5yrs down the line my other hip and knees and ankles have decided to join the club it seems never ending..
It is hard to pinpoint the area thats causing all the pain I hope they manage to do that when you have your injections.. and fingers crossed its not coming from your spine as spinal surgery is not something to be embarked on lightly .. but as you say the pain is almighty if its not contolled good luck and please come and let us know how you are getting or ask any questions you may have..
