Hi, whilst on MXT injections I suffered with hair loss. Since being off this drug for 8months my hair is still falling out. Its really bad at the front. What with all my other conditions this is really bothering me, im only 35. Although im aneamic and B12 deficient too , which this is a symptom it doesnt seem to be getting better. Gp is useless and waiting to go back to my heamatologist. Any other ideas? THanks

Oh No Jobear poor you
This must be really distressing for you.
I take it you're on B12 now? That would help with the anaemia wouldn't it?
Although I know stress doesn't help...how can you NOT be stressed :?
Take care and i hope someone else has a better idea

Thanks for your reply, yes im on B12 injections and iron tablets but still no difference. I know about stress, but thats easier said than done when as lots of you know being in constant pain!
Its getting to the stage where i dont want to wash my hair too often as so much falls out in my hands.0 -
Hi, I know this isn't a cure but it certainly helps me as I have some hair loss due to my trich. This has helped my confidence wonders - it's a product called Topik, it's hair building fibres, it's in the papers and stuff and you think it's a con. But when they were doing an offer which I believe is still on at hair123.co.uk of a sample for £4.95 I tried it and couldn't believe the difference. It is a powder that bonds to your hair and thickens it. They also have a product called Couvre which you apply to your scalp at the patches, it colours the skin on the scalp and makes it less noticeable. People keep telling me how good my hair is coming back and it's this stuff.
As I said, it's not a cure but certainly helps me, I would avoid going out sometimes before but not now.0 -
Hi Jobear,
I can't really help you but I just wanted to say hi and only can offer silly things like relaxation and calming exercises, but understand totally what pain and fears of where it will lead can do. A ((( ))) and a hope it all gets easier for you. Cris x0 -
Hi, that must be very distressing. Have you had your thyroid checked? That can cause hair loss.
I have lupus and my hair fell out in clumps before my diagnosis, it was horrible I was too frightened to wash it!! Steroids helped and slowed it down thankfully. I don't know what type of arthritis you have but I would mention it to your rheumy.
Take care

Hi,
Don't know if they are any use but my Mum uses a hair and nail supplement which she gets from H&B (not sure if I can say the full name). I haven't tried them but she rates them.
I also have B12 deficiency and pernocious anemia and know that my hair goes through cycles where it falls out in clumps. I would mention in to your doc though.
