Weirdiness at concert last night

I wonder if any of you have shared a similar experience to what happened to me last night....
I went to see a group called Massive Attack last night. 8) I have AS so I planned ahead by resting in the day, taking as many pain killers as poss, wearing sensible shoes and standing along a wall so as not to be knocked around etc etc...
I arrived on good form and was excited to be there and see my friends and was particularly keen to do something 'normal'.
Anyway, the show started and as soon as the volume of the music went up every beat of the bass line caused a huge amount of pain in my chest/ribs/sternum!! I couldn't believe it!! It got so painful that I left the concert and waited outside for my friends (I insisted they stay and enjoy, they didn't just 'leave me to it' ). As soon as I left the concert the pain in my chest subsided and I went back to usual form.
I would never have expected something like the vibrations of loud music to cause me physical pain and I am quite miffed as now it seems that not only can I not go out dancing (which I just loved to do) but I now have to be selective about the music I listen too because I have become such a sensitive soul!!
Has anyone else had something similar happen to them?? I would love to know, it just seems so bizarre...
Hope you are all enjoying your weekends and taking care of yourselves.
A xx

No fortunately not, Massive Attack as well, big fan of them, so sad you had to leave. I could give even Prince's live set a run for it's money the volume I listen to music at, my Mum said I'll go deaf soon.
I did once go to see Kula Shaker and it was seriously like no-one had ever been to a concert before. Very pushy and I got caught up and squashed. The next day I had awful pain in my chest which continued for over a week. I went to the Dr to be told I had 'crush injury' usually happens when something has fallen on someone.
I swore I'd never be in the standing areas again after that. Mind you, I won't now, can't stand for 5 minutes But I'd defo have sat and tapped my toes to Unfinished Sympathy like a good un!
What a shame for you though, awful to have looked forward to something like that and have it ruined.0 -
Hi A
You lucky lucky person ...... to see Massive Attack I am sorry you had to leave early though. I think Val is right but because of the AS your ribs, collar bones and sternum hurt low grade any way (mine do with just the pa) and the thumping base lines that vibrate you are going to upset achy bones?
I went to see Faithless and had the same in my back and neck but I had an idea it would happen so went there with every painkiller anti flam I have been prescribed and was determined to see it through. It was my last concert though but what a one to go out on
I love the thumping back base music and well with no near neighbours I do vibrate my bones a lot and some days they hurt and some days they don't. Not very helpful but it may help to know its not just you. Take care Cris0 -

Sorry, off topic. Faithless wooooohhh I'd love to see them. I did get a chance to see Leftfield once and part of the ceiling fell down because of the vibrations, their set was so loud and basey. I used to listen to Altern 8 and loved it when my windows rattled0 -
Hi Eck,
They were absolutely brilliant My ears rang for well over a week The rest of me just hurt for at least 2 more I don't think I could do another one to be honest but then again (for me) I had the best as my last try However...... I would Chance it again for the right act x0 -
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your replies! I really appreciate it! x
I suppose all I can say to this is aren't we all weird and wonderful! Although it is unfortunate for you, it comforting to hear that you experienced something similar and I am not going mad!Who knew vibrations from music could have such an effect!
I was lucky to go and got to enjoy some of the music before my disappearing act and they really were awesome! The crowd was great too and we weren't all packed in like sardines which was a big help!
And oh how I love Faithless!! Actually I think it's a reciprocated feeling - they wrote a song about me you know 'Insomnia'!!
I am also proud of the fact that I share a supermarket car park with Maxi Jazz!!haha! It's the little things in life isn't it!!
Hears to great acts and loud music!!

I love God is a DJ. When it used to be head back to mines after a club for some banging tunes I used to say "Tonight Eck is a DJ"0 -
Yes!! Tear Drop was beautiful and they played it very early into the set after quite alot of new stuff I didn't know well. Unfortunately I missed Unfinished Symphony but my hubby said it was THE song of the night and was huge
Ek, my friends gave up teaching me to mix years ago!Haha! I admire that you could pull off djing for a back at yours after a night on the tiles!!
Do you know what, Underworld has got to be right up their with MA and Faithless! For some reason I just love all their songs and if I had to choose a last concert I would definately choose one of theirs! (Or the Pumpkins come to think of it! )0 -

Yes I love Underworld, saw Darren Emerson a few times live, he is really up there with the best. Have you ever heard his Underwater mixes? They are brilliant, really good tunes on them.0
