Hi handsy sorry can’t help you directly as I have OA, have you tried phoning the help line people they might be able to shed more light on it, mind you there must be someone on here who takes the same med, maybe they’ve all been out enjoying this great Indian summer we are having I know I have, take care Mell. :?0

Hi John
I haven't heard of that one myself
Not nice - could just be coincidence I suppose, but if no-one here knows I'd go and see the doc if it persists
Hope it goes away
Take care

Hi, I have RA and I am on MXT, I have something similar where I cannot work out what is cold or hot, very awkward when eating, perhaps you should speak to your Rheumy nurse love Jaspercatxx0

There are 2 threads from you John on the same subject. Don't forget to look at both for answers, will you. I do hope it is all a little better today for you.

When I read your thread yesterday I suddenly realised that I too have lost my sense of smell and taste. I ate a chocolate eclair and couldn't tastle the chocolate. I then tried sweets and again they didn't taste the way they usually do. Then made a curry and couldn't smell it.
I take methotrexate injections aswell as other drugs. maybe it is a side effect.
Take care

I've just done a search on taste and found this thread. I haven't lost my taste, but it has changed - I've 'gone off' bland food - particularly tea! I've been a tea drinker all my adult life and never really drunk coffee as I only like very sweet coffee (as a treat) - but now (increasingly over the last few weeks) tea is making me shudder and I'm drinking more and more sweetened coffee. I can just about tolerate flavoured tea - but good old black tea - ugh! I seem to have developed an increasingly sweet tooth with food too, or the need for strongly flavoured foods, and wonder if this is psychological or something to do with the meds (mtx & humira) ?? I also have a pretty constant nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach! Hasn't put me off eating though, sadly!0

So I'm not going mad then?!!
I went off tea and bland foods on Mondays (Mtx day!) some time ago, then it spread to Monday and Tuesday, now it seems to be getting worse - I didn't have any tea yesterday (Weds) but I have had just one today! And when I think about making myself another one it just makes me feel nauseas! OK, maybe I am going mad!!0
