i think if your smell goes so does your taste, do you have a cold or blocked nose?

Hi, Sorry I don't take that drug. Although I have had that reaction from a drug used to treat sinus! I can't take that now. Love Sue

    Hi John

I did a quick google as I do not take metho and there was mention that this could happen but it was quite rare.

Trust you to be one of the rare ones! Makes eating not much fun, I do feel sorry for you. When I have had a bad cold I have sometimes lost my sense of smell and taste and it is horrid.

    Luv

    Hi Handsy,

I think its more likely Page is on the right lines. A cold can damage your sense of smell and taste for a while though it does usually come back. It can also be damaged by a knock on the head but again does come back. I don't take MTX so I don't know but I hope it sorts out for you soon. Take care, Cris

    Hi handsy,

like the others I wonder if you have had a cold recently.

However, I too take MTX (injections) and have found that at times my sense of smell is affected ..... although not in losing my sense of smell, more that some smells become increadibly unbearable.

I have a particular problem with hand-wash .... I have thrown so many away, because after a while I start to feel sick just being near the stuff, without even getting close enough to use it! Sometimes coffee does it too, and also frying food sent me reeeling in the market yesterday!

what we deal with to beat arthur eh?!

Hi, I remember when I lost my sense of smell. My husband had gone to collect his elerly mother for a few days and I had put the slow-cooker on with a stew, at about 11is I thought theirs something wrong, I can't smell anything, so I checked the plug was swiched on and put in properly, then I opened the lid of the pot and their was my cassarole bubbling away as normal! Thank goodness, so I went round the house seeing if I could smell anything and it was compleatly goneQ  Then I ate something and it was tastless so that was the start of that!

I hope you soon get yours sorted out as it spoils the enjoyment of eating and everything. Love Sue
