What a waste of two hours!

Well, just come back from an appointment at the hospital and I spent more time looking for a car parking place then with the doctor. I was really not impressed. Also just to add insult to injury the consultant was away on holiday (how nice) and I had to see the registrar.

The registrar was terrible. He didn't listen, didn't seem to give two hoots about the person in front of him, just wanted to tick the box and move them out.

I understand that there is not an awful lot the doc can do at the moment as I am pregnant (scary recent news!!) but I had questions about the medications I'm taking at the mo and the effect on the baby. He didn't care. Told me there was probably nothing to worry about and the effects on the baby weren't worth mentioning. I told him my hands were pretty good at the mo, but i've have been struggliing with my left knee and ankle. He ultrasounded my hands but when I asked him to look at my ankle he told me he wasn't good at scanning ankles so didn't bother.

I now feel really supported, cared for and stress free.
Rant over.

    Hi Jenzie

First of all, congratulations - I LOVE hearing news like that but not what you then go on to say about your non appointment.

I quite appreciate that you feel really uncared for and unsupported and just a number at your appointment today. If you feel strong enough I would complain. I think it is PALS you get in touch with. My goodness, being told he was no good at scanning ankles, well he should have got someone who was. I would complain. Why should you be treated like that? What does he get paid for? Telling you there was PROBABLY nothing to worry about........ you need another appointment - that was a total waste of your time and energy.

I hope you do complain. Why should this person get away with it and you come away upset.

I am sending you over some gentle hugs, you most certainly warrant them.
    Luv
    Elna

Hi, I am really sorry you had a very poor appt. We have to wait months for out 10mins with the doc and we want and deserve the best.

Elna has given you good advice about complaining. Maybe you could speak to your gp.

Congrats on your preganancy. I hope you get better care from your obstretician.

    Take care

Hello, Its really depressing when you have an appointment like that. It also makes you loose confidence, which is not at all good, but, hopefully next time you can see the consultant.

In the meantime why don't you go and discuss it with your GP, I did that when I had a bad appointment and she wrote back and got them to see me again. So maybe its worth a go.

Anyway, I hope everything is going well for you, you have exiting times ahead, expecting a new baby!!! :D

    Hi
It's things like this that your MP wants to hear about.
Phil Hope is a great guy and will soon look into it. I know, I use to work on a project where he was involved. Was about 8 years ago now but he hasn't changed.
Write to your local MP saying how upset you were. Being pregnant is a very important issue here. The fact that you have to cope with RA also.

I would suggest that you invest in some good firm shoes with a heel no higher than 2", really as low as you can manage and get some insoles made. See if your gp will refer you to a podiatrist.

This will help any weakness in your ankles, especially as you will be putting weight on and it will help your hips also. Padders, who have a distribution centre and sales point here in Kettering are very good. I don't know where you live. You can get them on the internet
Hope you don't mind me telling you all this but just thinking of ways you can help yourself.

    Hi Jenzie,

Oh congratulations on the news of a little one on the way :D

As to your appointment I agree with the others, see your gp and ask to see someone else. registers are not always so good and its wrong you were left feeling unsupported and not helped. See someone else is about all you can do and well maybe ring your rumo's secretary and explain you had a bad appointment and you want to see the man him self?

Good luck and please come and tell us all about the little one. Take care Cris x
