Bu Trans Patches

I'd really love to know if anyone is using or has ever used these patches and what you thought of them. To be honest they were recommended by the Pain Specialist I saw and I'm not feeling that they're giving me adequate pain relief.

Thanks very much Valval I've phoned the Pain Specialist and left a message on their answering machine to contact me. I'll wait another day and see if they do and if not then I'll ring my GP and see what he says. I'm really loath to do that 'tho.
Hopefully as today passes there will be others who know something of thes patches.0 -
hoping so just bumping this back to top where will be seenval0

I use the patches it takes a while to get to the correct dose that is right for you. When I get a flare up I need to take pain killers as well but at the moment 30mg patches seem to work for me at the moment. I started of on 5mg and as my RA has got worse have increased with the doctors advice. It took time for me to get used to them but now I much prefer them to taking loads of painkillers everyday. Hope you can get the right dose and they work for you.

Hi
My wife was put on thease burtans patches , they were not helping with the pain so told the rheumy who said right ask your gp for stronger dose , so she did and he put it up from 5 mg to 10mg but she is feeling a lot of itching , although other people say the patches is alright , they are the only thing we can think of

Izzy and Mike I cannot thank you enough for your replies.
Thing is I was on 400SR Tramadol daily
Solpadol 30/500 3 times a day
and now I'm on 10 micrograms patch and in agony all the time. I'll ring gp in the morning and ask if I can increase.0 -
Just a little update to say GP has doubled the dose of the Bu trans patches from 10 to 20 I'm to cut down on the tramadol now I'm on this higher dose. Fingers crossed.0

I used those patches for a year having them increased gradually didnt really help with the pain, saw my rheumatologist & he told me to stop them slowly due to withdrawal symptoms cold turkey not recommended!
If you come off them go back to your GP & discuss best way to come off them safely
They work for some but the stronger doses you have the more side effects you get
Good luck0 -
Hi, I was on them for a while, and they worked very well, the only problem for me was that they made me itch like mad, when I took the patch off my arm was all red, it took a few days for it to calm down, the gp told me not to have it any more because I might be allergic, so I just have Tramadol instead love Jaspercatxx0

I was on these patches for a while then started to become allergic to them, my doctor told me to stop using them, she's now put me on oxynorm for the pain

Thanks everyone for all your replies. I find the skin a bit sensitive both when I wear and when I take the patch off. I will monitor it and see how I do. It's too early to say how well they are working in terms of pain control but I'll let you know.
thanks again

Hi
I was put on these patches, starting at 10mg and finally increasing to 52 mg Even on this high dose it only just took the edge off the pain. Other problems I could only keep a 7 day one on for 4 days so changed to the 4 day ones. I was getting such a strong allergic reaction to them I finally came off them and started Pregabelin and Tramadol with Paracetomal inbetween. Even with Paracetomal, it starts making me wheezy. I sufer from Asthma quite badly at times so some medications affect me.

i am on these now instead of Tramadol and have just been increased from 5 mg to 10 mg. i was finding with the 5 that it didn't last a week. hoping that the 10 will be better for me and last through to the next patch. not had any problems with itchiness though. i think it is all about finding the right level for you and i am less dopey than with the tramadol.0
