I'm due to get a knee replacement next week and would like to hear from anyone who has had the procedure or has information. I am concerned about how successful it will be.

    Hi Pat
I hope your operation goes well. I suffer with OA in my knees too.
I'm praying that the specialist operates on one of them this year so I can have a better quality of life. I feel as if I'm 95 instead of 53! I'm fed up of walking around like a chimpanze (they're more agile than I'll ever be) with a walking stick.

I'm sure there are many people on this site who will give you great advice and information.

I wish you well for next week. Please tell us how you get on.
    Warmest regards

:) Hi ya I haven't had the knee done but hubby has and he is leading an almost normal life just finds that kneeling is a problem. Good luck with your op.
    Take care

    Hi Pat,

I had both my knees replaced at the same time nine years ago and haven't looked back. Just one small word of warning, so that you'll expect it, but it does hurt a bit when you first weight bear (day 1 after the op) it's not terrible and nothing like you're experiencing now - alhough you may be fine but that was my experience - others could tell you different :)

Hope it goes well and let us know how you got on when you're able.

    Luv Legs :D

    Hi patann

Welcome to the forum. :D I want to wish you all the very best for your op next week. I had a total knee replacement (left) in January 2008 and I have no regrets. Most of the time I do not think about it anymore. I can do most things, including kneeling but perhaps not for as long as I used to do and I have a really good knee bend too. The other knee is not at all good now and very painful at times and keeping me awake at night so I may well be going down that road again very soon. We are all different, some have no pain immediately after the op, others do, I was in the latter category but it all worked out in the end and I am willing to go back for more, so that says a great deal.

If you do as you are told, all will be well.

Look forward to hearing from you again after the op with news of how you are going on. We are here for you should you have any questions and will do our best to answer them for you.

    Luv
    Elna x
