Have to go see doc tomorrow as kidney function now below 60....(supposed to be about 90) - have a feeling connected to PA but Rheumy didn't seem to think so......wish you could just see one doc about all sometimes, you get so much conflicting info tis very confusing! Am also gonna speak to doc re starting a family, hope they're supportive!! :|

Will post again tomorrow but in meantime thanks to all - reading others posts makes me feel so much better to know people understand what i'm feeling. :D

    Hi Kerry
Well I hope they help you sort it out - you want it sorted before you try for a baby :)
They should be supportive of you trying for one - you'll have to let us know

    Hi there

Try not to worry too much. I was born with kidney reflux which progressed to Grade V resulting in my ureters being re-implanted, I have had impaired function all my life. It sounds very scary hearing what your function is as it seems so low. The only trouble I get is my immune system is weaker and I get recurrent UTIs. This and RA will make you feel very weak and tired alot.

Keep drinking lots of good fluids, water, cranberry juice etc to prevent infection. If you are a smoker, do your very best to quit. Once I stopped my immune system improved radically and I found I didn't catch everyone's colds all the time. Try not to sleep with windows open if you are hot, draughts often gave me a chill in my kidneys. Also I am tee total, drinking makes me very ill kidney wise.

I hope your appointment goes well but if you know then you can take steps to prevent infections. If you see any signs like foul smelling urine, burning when you pee or trouble passing urine, contact the Dr. It's handy to have Urinalysis sticks so you can keep a check on things, you can get them at the chemist.

    Good luck

    Eck

    Hello Kelly

Try not to worry too much about any kidney problems. It can be very uncomfortable, but soon curable. I think, when you are younger, you can get more kidney disorders. I use to get a lot in my twenties and thirties, so did my daughter.
At least we have the blood tests which give us an early warning.
Good luck with the specialist and let us know how you got on.
    Hope you feel ok soon
    joy
