Hi Peeps

I have received a letter to go for an Electromyography.

I wondered if anybody has had this done and what they do? Do you have to take your clothes off or anything like that?

Is there anything I should do or take before I go?

Does it take long?

I would like to know what they are going to do. I'm more cocerned if you have to get on a bed or couch as I'm in a wheelchair.

If anybody knows I would like to hear about it as I will have to go on m own .

Many Thanks

trisher xx

    Hi Trisher

How are things with you now? hope they are getting better and that there is some improvement with your hubby.

Not sure if this is the electronic nerve test thing but if it is I had one last week and was able to stay in my wheelchair for it and there wasn't a problem Only thing is if you are having your hands tested too they have to be warm, I had to sit in the waiting room with my hands under my armpits for around 20 mins  It took less than an hour for me.
    Hi Trisher

Just seen Lynn's post and she is right, I was asked to wear loose clothes and short sleeves plus easy to remove socks and shoes.

I am guessing this is the long name for the EMG test my hubby had. His was not for arthritis, but MND, so involved a range of body bits. He got a letter telling him about it, and he also rang them before to ask what it would involve. He found it a bit uncomfortable, but manageable. It did make him very tired though.

I know other people have had this type of test to diagnose carpal tunnel ect. is this what they are looking for in you? I know that they do need you to be very warm, so wear plenty of layers!

    good luck!

    Hi Lynn

Yeh there was nothing with the letter. Dumb me does'nt think to ring up do I eh.

It's just that everytime wwe go they always expect hubby to see to me. They look at me and say are you are able to stand. I now just
lift my skirt and say can you see any legs. I know I should'nt but it does get to me.
I've got my cotton wall head on at the moment I think. Still I don't have to worry about wearing comfortable shoes yeh.

Don't you worry about the mxt. Hope it don't make you sick. If you don't take it I'll send the Forum Helicopter round your house. He has instructions to make sure you take your medicines

Remember the tip Isaid a few weeks ago Have ice lollies in freezer. That's what my old doc recommended because of how i'm so sick with my gall bladder.

Let me know how you get on. The sulfa is doing nothing for me either.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

    Hi Trisher

So sorry you are having to go through all this worry about your husband and your own aches and pains too. I wish there was something I could do to help.

It will be so hard for you to relax as your brain is probably working overtime but please try, you need your rest too.

    Love and gentle hugs

My heart goes out to you Trish. I have been where you are now, I truly understand. Actually, that isn`t totally true, because when my husband was very ill, I was still completely well myself, so can only imagine how much worse it is for you.

Can you get your GP to come to see you? Maybe he/she would prescribe some strong sleeping tablets. The sleepless nights are so completely soul destroying. Also, perhaps he/she could arrange help for you when you have your own hospital visits, or suggest any other assistance you may benefit from.

Have you spoken to the Helpline here at AC? I have heard that they are wonderful.

Please feel free to PM me if I can help you in any way, and know that you are constantly in my thoughts......Much love......Ange.

    Hi Trisher,

It sounds like it will not involve being undressed but if you have one wear a big over sized t-shirt as when ever they tell me to strip off thats part of my underwear and I have never yet been asked to remove it....... Mind it might be the steel look I have in my eyes

I am so sorry to read about your Husband. A ((())) and love Cris xx

Oh and sulfa....... Its doing nothing for me either :?
