I have been told by my surgeon this operation will be a challenge for both of us and would like to hear from anyone else who has had this operation? The Hinged knee replacement is different from others and would appreciate anyone else's personal experience.

I was about to reply to your earlier post, then saw this one.

I had a very successful TKR two and a half years ago - same procedure as Elna and Legs I think. Obviously this is something different, and not one I`ve ever heard of.

I`m at a loss to understand why your surgeon would perform something which, by his own admission, is a challenge, when the type of op we had has a very high success rate.

Perhaps if you called the Helpline - number top right - they may be able to help.

    Good luck........Ange.

    Hi patann

I can see why your surgeon says it will be a challenge for both of you as it is rarely used as a first choice of surgical options. I presume your knee is highly unstable and your ligaments will not support the other type of knee replacements.

I have not heard of anyone on here posting about a hinged knee replacement but that does not mean that someone has not had one.

I wish you well next week.

    Luv
