Hi All,

I am new to this forum and wondered if you could help me. I am 61 years old and in good health - the only medication i have been taking until recenlty is for high BP.

About ten months ago I fell on ice and hurt my middle finger of my right hand . It was sore to move but I didnt bother much about it. About two months ago the pain spread to my index finger and my thumb and then to my left hand. I now have really sore figers and the joints of these fingers are really sore. The right hand two fingers are sore all the time and the left hand comes and goes with no particular pattern. It is driving me mad. I feel that my fingers are really swollen but they don't look swollen.

Thanking you all in anticipation.

Kind regards,

Dave

I went to my GP and stopped taking the BP tablets in case that was causing it but it went no better. I have been referred to a clinic in my local hospital in late October. My GP have me a course of ibuferon but it has not really made much difference. I have been for loads of blood tests via my GP, and they have all been negative, including a blood screening test for rheumatoid artritus.

My GP thinks I may have osteoarthritus. Gout has been ruled out because of the blood tests.

This condition whatever it is has developed so quickly that it is driving me mad.

Has anyone had a similar expereince or can you offer any explanation. I have been referred to a rheumatoid clinic in late Oct.

    Hi Dave

Welcome to the forum. You are now amongst a large group all with arthritis of some kind or other and all ages. We all try to help each other and offer support.

You have placed this thread on the chitchat zone which is fine but not everyone looks in at this zone and usually threads like this are better placed on the Living with Arthritis zone.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your hands, not good is it? At least you seem to be having lots of tests so you are being "looked after". Could well be Osteo Arthritis. Have you been offered any inflammatory meds too?

I hope you are back on your BP meds now if you need to be. It is a shame you have to wait until the end of October to see a rheumy but at least there the person will be specialised so you will hopefully get a firm diagnosis and treatment will go on from there.

Peeps here say putting your hands in as hot water as you can bear sometimes relieves the pain for a while if the fingers are very stiff.

I wish you all the best with the appointment,

    Luv
    Elna x
