I got a phone call last week. Just to check what time I would like my physio appointment to be. The offered 2.10pm and 3pm. I chose 2.10pm as 3pm I'll be picking the kids up from school.
My friend has said if it over runs she'll get the kids for me.

My arthur is in my neck and the main pain I get is in my arms. The lady on the phone said the appointment was for my shoulder.

Anyone know what will happen, what should I expect, at a first physio appointment apart from form filling ?

Thanks

Hi carol, sorry youve not had any answers so i'll try to help.
at my 1st physio appointment i was given an assessment, asked were the pain was,how it affected me day to day.
it was an hour for assessment.
she then designed an exercise plan for me to follow for the affected joints & to help build up the muscles.
i'd advise you to wear decent undies for the assessment or trackie bottoms & loose top so you dont need to undress.
they will discuss with you what would be the best treatment for you,its then your decision what you want to do.

i didnt carry on as i didnt like the physio i was seeing or her attitude towards me.but i do follow the exercises as much as i can as we all say''use it or lose it''
good luck with your appointment & treatment. debs

You might want to tell the physio whta time you have to leave for school pick-up straight away so you don't worry :)
    Good luck with apt

    Hi,
I have been down the Physio road too. Yes it can help, but my thoughts are that there Physios and there are Physios. Some are good, some not so good. As a patient it's very difficult to know how good your physio is? I was actually given exercises that made my condition worse ! I would go along with the Physio, but check carefully what exercises you are being given, and if necessary take a second opinion. Personally I am a great believer in stretching and core strengthening, but they Must be the correct exercises for your problem. Good luck with the initial consultation, I hope all goes well for you. :)
