Hi everyone!

Over the past couple of years I have had several hip problems Its a very long story), I have hip arthritis in my right hip but the consultant is know saying I have the above. The pain is unbelievable!

I had an injection on Monday into it which relieved it until the evening. Then it came back just as bad!

I am now on butrans patches, 15mg which seem to be controlling the pain, although I can't walk.

Has anyone experience of this? :x

    Hi Laura

You have my sympathy as I know only too well how painful Bursitis can be. I have it in my hip too. I feel it most of the time, but sometimes it flares up to intolerable levels of pain. Last Dec. I had an arthroscopy operation on my knee on the same leg, and it seemed to trigger the Bursitis. I had far more pain with that than in my knee.

I have had injections for it, and sometimes they work, sometimes not. After my op. the injection had no effect, so I was referred to a physiotherapist. She treated it with ultrasoud and acupuncture, and she also loaned me a tens machine, which seemed to help. I had about 8 sessions of treatment and then the bursitis subsided. I take diclofenac and paracetamol for my OA and the bursitis. I have found those wheat bags which you heat up in the microwave can help too, or a warm bath.

I hope you will feel better soon

    Hi Laura
    I might have it too.
I am not sure might be nerve damage from my back/sciatica or bursitis :(
Had a jab in it about a month back and it didn't help :( In fact it may wel ahve flared it up a bit :(
They will try the jab and if you are lucky it should fix it at least temporarily :)
    Good luck

    Hi Laura
I have had quite a few steroid injections in my hip bursa none of them helped at all, then some months ago my rhemy gave me another one. He was very fussy about putting it in the exact place where the pain was worse. (that was fun  ) but this time I have had some benefit. I still can't lie on that side but so long as I don't do that, it doesn't hurt, which is a great improvement.

I was diagnosed with bursitis last year and had the injections followed by physio, ultrasound and accupuncture. I think it has definitely flared up again. This time it seems far worse. I am getting tingling the whole time aswell as the pain and at times, the pain shoots out in all directions so much I almost fall out of my chair.
I have to get my OH to help me out of bed each morning. Problem is that it seems to have moved over to the right hip aswell now.
Does anyone get the pain right across the back, groin and down the thighs with it? I didn't have it as bad as this last year.
Have had to increase my Tramadol and Pregabelin, but that is interferring with my functioning during the day.

As far as the injections go, they don't seem to last do they?

    Hi Joy

The longest an injection has worked for me is a couple of months, but it is nice when they do work.

Last year, I was pleased when an injection worked just before we were going on holiday. Then the first morning, I got out of bed and cracked my toe on the bed post. I had to go to A and E and I had broken my toe, so spent all holiday with it strapped up. Typical :!:

    Hi

I have been to see my GP today who has increased my patch, so hopefully I will see some difference in a couple of days.

Is there any rhyme or reason why peoples burstis flares up? Has anyone had any further medical intervention (apart from injections)?

I think one of the worse thing about being ill, is the isolation? I feel like I have lost a lot of friends as I have gon within myself.
