Humira and pate

Hi
First time poster. My wife has sero negative rheum arthritis, and after a few years of little help, she changed hospitals and now is recieving first class care. (kudos to Charing Cross Rheum dept).
She's been put on Humira. I notice on the documentation, it says that she shouldn't eat unpasteurised blue cheese and pate.
I can understand the blue cheese, as it has live bacteria in it, but I can't understand the pate? Whenever I've made pate, there is a stage where it is cooked, so what is the danger there?
I'd appreciate if anyone knows the answer to this.
Thanks in advance
JC

Hi JC,
Can't really help you but just wanted to say hello and welcome to you and your wife. Maybe the helpline people will know the answer. Blue cheese is presumably the bacteria but Pate, well I don't eat it and so don't know whats in it to make them say.
Hope you find some answers and good luck for you wife, take care Cris0 -
Hi JC,
I wonder if it is because pate is high in Liver & therefore iron etc?
I just wonder because most of the newer drugs seem to have an effect on the Kidneys and liver (or at least they test us so regularly in case of problems in these areas)
I taek Methotrexate and Leflunomide, and although I haven't worried too much about the odd morsel or two, I do stay away from alcohol to avoid the liver being overstretched.
not sure if that helps0 -
I am on Humira.I know they say to avoid pate(I dont)it is the same with pregnant women.Must be bacteria or something in the pate which is dangerous to babes and those with low immunity.
Take care TkachevNever be bullied into silence.
