Worth a try?

Having recently been diagnosed with metabolic arthritis (ie gout) which is quite rare in women and in my case is definitely attributable to my diabetes, I have obviously been prescribed allopurinol to reduce my uric acid levels. While googling a purine free diet I came across this useful snippet - that cherries in particular while being high in antitoxidents etc., are also anti inflammatory and have been used with some success to treat arthritis and gout. They are also very good at bringing down uric acid levels. So here I am - love cherries anyway so no hardship - got my cherry juice and will report later after my first set of blood tests in 4 weeks. Certainly I have not developed any rash or further flare that I was warned might happen by the rheumy.

    Hello
Cherries that sounds nice, but expensive out-of-season. I'm sorry you've got gout, my late brother used to have gout, just in the toe joint in one foot, but found it sooooo painful, so I am very sorry to hear you have that.

If diet can help its worth trying, unless its one of those weird diets when you only eat one thing, it can't hurt you and may do good. A lot of our modern drugs are based on foods. Hope you feel better, when you try the cherries. Love Sue
