hi everyone
I have been to the surgeon today, he told me that i have two bulgeing discs not one in C6 and C7 and that i need to have an operation to either replace them or fuse them together won't know until they get in there. On one hand i am very pleased because he said that my arm and shoulder pains will go but my neck will still be a problem so thats really good But i am a little worried about it as he said there are risks too :? I know the benifits much out way the risks but it still makes you think But seeing as i am up again with bad pains in my arms and neck i am going ahead with it and and looking foreward to not having so much pain as i know i will not be able to put up with this much longer the funny thing is when he asked what aggrevated it the most i had to say trying to sleep and sleeping and when i asked him if there was anything i should not do at mo apart from no lifting at all and all the usal things he said and anything that aggrevates it more so here i am not sleeping as thats one of the things . Anyway hope you are all feeling a lot better than lots of hugs to everyone CB

Hello Chinablue
At least you have seen the surgeon now and know what is going on and what is going to happen. There are risks with every operation and nowadays they are always spelt out to us, which does, I agree, make it rather daunting. Same for me, before my total knee replacement, hysterectomy and varicose veins operations but I am still here and did not have any complications. It is the way forward for you and I wish you well with that. Let us know when you go in, won't you?
I hope you are able to sleep a little in the day as you did not sleep well last night.
Luv

Hello, Not something you'd choose to have is it? It mudt be worrying you a bit.
The way to think about is every operation has some risks, I have a simialar prob in my neck and they are going to have a go at helping it with physio. They told me surgery was the best answer, but at least they have been honest with you and explained the risks of the operation. You can see how this teatment goes and make up your mind based on how much its effecting your life
I hope you find a good answer for you. Love Sue0 -
Hi Chinablue
NO SLEEPING  :!:
Glad you have a plan now! It helps doesn't it?
Have you any sort of timescale?
Take care

Glad that you have had a positive diagnosis with the surgeon. To have a neck fusion op can be a very serious one as the surgeon has set out. My SIL had similar op a bit lower in the spine and the post op period was a long one in his case. You will have to be patient afterwards and take care.
You have a lot of things to consider and what your quality of life is at the moment. Sometimes we will go to any extreme to try and get rid of the pain. How long will you have to wait for the op?
Whatever you decide I do hope you can find some relief in the interim because it is so exhausting for you.

Hi everyone thankyou all so much for your support and messages. :P They said it will be about two months to wait but i will ring and let them know i am availble any time just in case of someone canceling.
The pain has been quite unbareable today but i must not complain as i know there are people out there much worse off than i am.
My father wanted to take me to A&E because of the pain but i told him that i knew what was wrong i would just have to wait for the operation. He still thinks of my sisters and I as little girls which i must say none of us have been for quite some while now.
I will try and get a better rest tonite taking every med i dare and done anything i can think like rubs, pillows and positions but so far no luck. Anyway enough of my troubles hope this fines you all well and if not my wish for you is lots of hugs and feel better soon love CB xx0 -
I do hope you get some decent sleep tonight. I kow it's difficult to contemplate surgery but I'm sure you will make the choice that is right for you. It could be worth seeing your Dr. about increasing/changing your pain meds as things are so difficult. Best of luck
