Hi everyone, I was wondering if some of you can help me I have O/A of the hips and other places but it's manely my hips that give me the most bother, what i want to ask is i know this wet weather affects Arther but for the last two days i have been in a lot of pain but also i am very tired and had a few mouth ulcers, has this got anything to do with the arthritis, I know with R/A you get flare ups but do you get what they call flare ups with O/A im'e confused :? I feel i need to talk to someone as you may know you cannot talk to your GP as trying to get an appointment is like trying to get a letter to god and also they don't have the time to answer your questions, I just want to know what other symptoms go with O/A  and I know you are all good with your replys please help :) Wendylou

Hi there, I to suffer with O/A already had one hip replaced and second on its way, have it in hand, wrist, ankles , knees, and toes... I really don't get any other symptoms apart from pain, nodules and reduced mobility, but everyone is different and other people get weather related pain, tiredness and various other problems.. I think it must be easy to suffer with depression also related to the Arthur but I seem to manage to keep pretty happy despite the problems it causes me... I know how difficult it is to discuss with the GP as I always feel I need to get in and out quickly and never ask all those little nagging questions... but sites like this have helped me understand the illness a bit better and I think I am more accepting of it now ...

    Hi Wendylou

Have not heard from you in a while. I am sorry to hear that your hips are giving you jip, even more so now the weather is changing. Yes, you can get flare ups with OA as well. I asked a consultant and his answer was yes and I believe him. The mouth ulcers could be appearing because your immune system is low atm. Unless one's gp is well up on arthritis it is not much use asking them about it really. Best people to ask is us lot, exactly as you are doing!

Hopefully others will call in to answer your thread soon.

    Luv
    Elna x

Hi Wendylou,I have OA and RA in my hands, wrists, kees and feet. :( There can be a lot of symptoms with arthritis and it can vary from person to person.Tiredness is one of the side effects most of us get. Most days I feel quite lethargic and don't seem to have much energy.Regarding mouth ulcers,I do get them from time to time but not sure if they are a problem related to arthritis.A lot of sufferers get what GP's call referred pain which can move around the body.I have found the rheumy nurse has been very helpful in answering a lot of my questions.Don't know if you have seen one yet.You usually get an appointment with one after the initial appointment with the arthritis consultant.I expect you will get a lot of useful advice from this website,I certinally have. HI,
I have OA and not RA, but I do get flares, times when all the pain seems to come at once and my energy just goes. I get mouth ulcers, I've never really thought if they are conected or not! Thinking about it they may well be = I get bleeding gums when I'm like that as well, but I always do get them when I'm under the weather! Take care, I hope you feel better soon.
