Hi
I have had back problems since late teens and now at 29 have finally had a diagnosis of Spondyloarthritis.
I am heavily into my sports and since being on the 15mg of prednisalone I have managed to get back t my sports and gym routine.
the question I have is that of contact sports.
I have read online that people with this type of arthrits are more susceptible to spinal fractures so was wondering whether I should avoid contact sports. I love kickboxing and often spar with the guys quite heavily. I would like to know whether this is safe to do so???

    Hi Bailey,

I think the only advice anyone can say is be careful....... However I know what i did and well you should be a bit careful but I can't tell you to stop........ Saying that I will never know how much I contributed to the over all sate of my spine now. Have you run it past your consultant or nurse? I really hope you can get a better answer than this from someone else :lol: You take care though. Cris

No one can tell you to stop , but the best person for this question is either your GP or consultant, did they not give you advice when you were diagnosed? If it were me I wouldn't be putting my spine at further risk but you are much younger and obviously love your sport... so I guess its down to you to weigh up the risk.. but speak to the doctors too...
