Hi
I will apologise in advance but......... I have seen or rather felt this weekend coming for a few weeks. My other hip and my back have been complaining at times for weeks , but not constantly. But last week, I started to need to up my meds again, unfortunately, and started to use my stick again. I haven`t needed a sick or in fact much medication wise for a while since my THR, but am stopping pretending now.
My pain this weekend has had me in tears and very scared of what is around the corner. I am struggling at work, but can`t have time off. Financially, I exhausted my sick pay before and after my op, and need to try to build it up again for my surgery which is looming.
I am trying not to let on at work how bad I feel, but a stick kind of gives the game away!
Sorry to moan, but need to talk.
NB

Oh I'am sorry to hear that. It must a big worry for you. your'e not moaning. Everyone needs bit of support on here.

How are you from your previous surgery? Did it make a big diffence to you?

Could it be beacuse you are walking better on the side you had done it is now making the other side of you hurt more, or you need that done now?

    Hi
Thanks Trisher, yes the THR has made a lot of difference to my life. I was all but housebound before. But although I knew I still had problems with my hip and back, I hoped I would have a bit more time before it started to get bad again.
I know there are lots more people who are suffering more than me, and I am sorry to complain, but it hurts. And when it gives way I am afraid of doing damage to my new hip.
i am trying to do all the right things, lose weight, try to exercise more etc.. but still it happens.
I am seeing a new consultant this week, which will be interesting.
    thanks again x

    Hello,
I'm so sorry about the amount of pain you are suffering, it sounds really bad. Have you seen your GP, I can understand the financial worries of having time off work, but I hope this isn't keeping you from getting the help you need.

When you had the last op, you did so well and were so brave. The op. did help you, I think, didn't it? Is if possible that when you have the op for the hip that is giving you so much trouble at the moment, that you will be much more pain free and mobile. I'm sorry if I am talking a load of rubbish, but I hope that their is some light for you, at the end of the tunnel. I know when you are in such bad pain, its very hard to even imagine something can be done.

As much as I hate to think of you crying in pain, sometimes tears give us an outlet, like a safety valve.

I hope that you soon get some treatment that will make a difference for you. Thinking of you, and hoping you will have a better day tomorrow.
Lots of love and a hug, Suexxx

    Hi Sue
I haven`t been back to the GP since I went back to work in June, probably longer. I felt like I was there all the time in the past. I am afraid that they would advise me to be off work, which I don`t want to do. It would be too much pressure on my hubby, finacially, although he would tell me to stay off.
Hopefully, i will sleep better tonight and not feel so bad tomorrow.
If money was no object, i would not be so worried. More surgery is scary, and when it comes i will be terrified agin. But I know it will probably help.
I am also afraid to admit to people how bad I feel, as they think I should be ok now. I wish I was!! God i feel like such a winge!!
    Hope you are ok x

I understand how you feel, you'r very brave and make me feel ashamed to be at home.

I can understand how scary your surgery is, I've had a few ops, not for the oa except the simple carpel tunnel, each time I've been scared, to put it mildly. Even the little carpel tunnel, and I was scared. To be honest thats why when I went last time, and the surgeon started talking about the other hand, I said it wasn't too bad! She understood, I think, and gave me 3 months to 'think it over'1

I do wish I could say something to put things right, or make them a bit better, but all I can do is send you lots of good wishes, I hope tomorrow is a better day. Lots of love Sue xxxx

    Hi NB

I am so sorry to read that you are in pain with the other hip and back sooner that you thought. You probably relied a great deal on your dodgy hip at first after the hip op, if you know what I mean and as a result it is feeling very tired and even more stressed out than before because of having to work harder.

I can see why you do not wish to see the gp because as you say, he will more than likely suggest time off work. If you feel a stick eases the pain then you must use it for work and they can put two and two together. They may well have noticed that you have been struggling more lately, anyway.

Why should people expect you to be ok now, as you say, the operated hip is good but it is the other one that is now playing up big time. You cannot help that happening can you? It is not your fault.

Let's hope that, as you say, you feel a little better tomorrow and try to save your energy, for a few days, not easy I know.

    Luv

    Hi NB

    Pain can be terrible.

Try and remember this that the pain you are suffering is your own experience, only you know what it is like for your own body

I'm glad you are seeing your consultant this week. He/She maybe will be able to help you and put your mind at rest.

You are not moaning, it's natural to disscuss it with the people on this site that's the whole point of having this forum.

I totally agreet with regarding the financial side of it.

You will have to let us know how you get on. I'm sorry it is only me you have to talk to, I expect others more experience on here have family commitments.

    luv trisher xx

    Good morning NB :)

I hope it is a "good" morning for you and that you do feel a little better today, if only marginally. That is in the right direction.

    Hello NB
I have been reading some of the threads to your 'cry for help'. At least we are all here for you to mull things over and hopefully clear your head as to how to cope.

You are obviously worried and stressed about the work issue, and perhaps it is time to lean on someone a bit more, your hubby, your gp. If it means having some time off work, get some therapy, then so be it. As I have said to others, you're the most important person here. People depend on you, so you need to try and get some energy back, especially before another winter. So go and see your doctor, Make a list of everything and put all your worries down on paper. Hopefully he will have the time to talk to you. Tell the receptionist you want a double appointment. Make people have time for you.

    love from joy

    Hi Nearly,

Sorry I am late seeing this. I really do hope things are sorted for you soon as it will help with the being scared once you have dates and know what they want to do.

With work is there anyway you can talk to them and see if you can maybe have something to help you for a min? Illness and finance is never a good one is it?

I know I am not being very helpful with the suggestions but what I really wanted to say is you will get there and it will be easier once everything is not up in the air so much. I really hope they start to give you dates and well then you will have something to work toward if that makes sense?

It must be so hard to have the pain again as you have done so well with the other THR. I wish I could help but sending you a cyber ((( ))) and just hope things will be less scary and get easier for you soon. You take care and Luv Cris xx

Hi NB, have only just read your post and Im so sorry youre going through it AGAIN, just when you were trying to get some sense of normality :( Are you in more pain with this hip than you were with the operated one? This seems to be a recurring theme with us Hippers, get one sorted and then the other starts  Im sure work would be sympathetic to you, youre a hero in my book for going, considering youve had a big op and are uncertain about youre other hip. Hope youre feeling better today, take care jk

    Hi everyone
Thanks for your replies. It is really good to have you on here to talk to etc...
I went to work, although it was difficult this morning. I used my stick, I think people are getting used to it. I wasn`t in the mood to talk to anyone though, which isn`t like me!!
I`m going to take some meds tonight and cuddle up with my wheat pack. Tiredness doesn`t help my pain tolerance, so I think I will try for an early night.
My appointment is tomorrow, so at least I`ll know what this new consultant thinks about my hip/dysplasia etc..
Thanks again, you are all great xx

Hi there sorry to hear you are having a bad time. I was going to message you later in the week when I get into the office to see what make my chair was in case it might be suitable for you. I will do that on thr when I am back in the office as I am on a course till thr. I hope tomorrow goes well and that you get the correct answers. Remeber you are going through a lot at the minute. I got my hip done the same time as you and I think my body is still recovering as well as my mind to the extent that I am in denial about my other hip. You have not had that time with your gyne op and your other hip to have much normality. Work you will have built up some sick leave and at the end of the day your health is more important. Your job will still be there for you so focus on yourself for a bit

Hope all goes well tomorrow and will pm you on thr with my chair details.

Keep your chin up and take care

    Hi
I was in pain all day Saturday by bedtime I was in agony and had to up my bedtime amytriptiline from 2-3. I think we all have times such as this when we're in so much pain and everyday things just seem to weigh you down.

I hope you're feeling a bit better now. If you need time off because of your arthur then you must take it otherwise you'll end up with a major flare up. I had one this year that lasted a month because I overdid things. You need to listen to your body. Go back to your GP for a sick note and work will just have to understand.
    Regards
    Sharmaine
