I had my flu jab last wednesday and all last night I was being sick I didnt get hardley any sleep and only now has the sickness started to ease.
Now my body is like a volcano but yet i feel freezing - Just wondered if anyone else has had this sort of reaction to the flu jab.
I know they inject the live virus for flu and then you can get mild symptoms while your body makes its natural anti-bodies.
Or is it likley to be a bug thats just going around - I am only managing small sips of water but my tummy is like i have been in a boxing match
Hope nobody else is having this sort of thing.

Ooh Justin
I do hope you feel a bit better now?
That sounds awful! Seems like a late response if it IS the flu - if I were you I would contact the GP to take a little advice....are you on DMARDs for instance? should you be taking any special precautions?

thanks Toni - the sickness has eased but it does seem like mild flu symptoms, i couldnt take my meds this morning as i would of only brought them back up, so am going to start with some paracetomol to see if that helps my tempreture, then take my others.
I must admit I do get mild flu like symptoms around 5 days after having the jab but nothing as bad as what was going on last night.
Dreadding trying to eat something now  I think an early night is called for tonight.0 -
Hope you are feeling better by now? I had the flu jab last week and apart from feeling hot for a couple of hours all was ok. Incidentally, the flu jab isn't a live vacine and therefore can't give you the flu, although you can get a reaction for a short while. Were you asked if you were intolerant to eggs?0

Hi Justin,
It does sound like you have a reaction to the vaccine and do have a form of flu. I really hope you soon feel better. Rest and try to keep at a static temperature and take in fluids as often as you can. I hope its is a quick reaction and sometimes they are. Take care Cris0 -
thanks everyone I was asked about if i was allergic to chicken protein and eggs but i dont have any problems.
Just feeling hot now - I will make a good hot water bottle tonight thats all i can say
And feet out of the side of the bed to cool them off lol0 -
Hii Justin
Glad you have improved a little and hope you can sweat the rest of it out tonight eh?
Soup for tea If it was me and then an early night - as yopu said feet out of the duvet!
Take care

Hi Justin
Hope you are feeling a bit better.
I've had the flu vaccination for a few years now
and never had any after effects.
In fact I find it confusing as when I googled
'seasonal flu vaccination' it actually says that you cannot
get flu from the flu vaccination.
But you can suffer with a fever and ache somewhat. :?:
Not sure what to believe though.
Really dont know whether I will go for the swine flu
vaccination though as there is all sorts of horror stories
surrounding it.

It could just be co-incidence, but if you don't feel any better in the morning you could give your surgery a ring.
I've never had any ill effects after he jab.
Don't we have to have two this year - normal and swine flu - does anyone know? :?
Hope you do feel brighter soon.

I managed to have some soup its been 30 mins so far so good, now our son is being sick so maybe its one of those annoying bugs.
What are these horror stories about having the swine flu vac? hope they are not to bad.
Keep getting the odd heart palpataion now - I just keep coughing then it seems ok - My body feels so weak at the moment.0 -
Hi, Flu isn't a live vaccine, I don't think. Sounds like one of those awful tummy bugs that go round, you may have caught it when you had your flu jab!
I always try and sit away from children and don't pick up any of the magazines, when I go to the doctors. Its all those ill people who will go and spread their germs around! On our doctors outside door is a big notice saying "If you think you've got flu, go home and ring. Please don't come in." Poor people, treated like plauge victims.
I do hope you and your son are soon better. Love Sue

I am now off to bed with my heat pad all ready to go - Thanks again0 -
Feeling better today but now 3 familly members have got it now and started with it last night.
It must be one of those nasty 24 hour bugs. I just feel weak today and my stomarch feels like its been in a boxing match.
Much better today though0 -

No problem at all with the jab, just walking with a lean to the left caused by having a blood test in one arm and the flu jab in the other.
Contrary to popular belief, all experts argue that you cannot get the flu from the flu vaccine because it contains no 'live' virus just the molecules that prime the body's immune system to fight off the potential virus.
Despite that, many people complain of feeling unwell afterwards. There are many possible reasons for this.
The NHS leaflet on flu immunisation warns that "some people may experience mild flu-like symptoms for up to 48 hours after immunisation as their immune system responds to the vaccine, but this is not flu".

Sounds like you may have picked up a bug at the docs. That's the problem with all those sick people hanging around.
Keep well wrapped up warm and phone the docs to see if anyone else has problems, as it could be a, (very rare), duff batch of jabs.
