    Hi Lynn

I am not going to be of much help - sorry, but when my shoulder "hurts", it is only one that I get jip with, I place a heated wheatbag under it and that is comforting, for me and hopefully I fall asleep before it gets cold and at least get a couple of hours kip, that way!

I have a cushti (I think it's called) but will double check when I go upstairs. It's a very light cushion roll that moulds to the shape of your body - not like a memory foam - it also reflects the body heat so feels very cosy. Even though my arms and legs struggle moving pillows I can easily move this around under the covers. The only drawback is that it isn't washable and you can't put a cover on it, you can put it in the freezer periodically to kill any bedbugs that are squatting inside though.

    Hi luv

Yes, I use something similar. I got mine off Amazon and I also managed to buy one in Aldi. Very lucky there because they don't often have them. I hve two in my chair downstairs to put either side of my lower spine. They are called 'cushties'. I put a larger version of these sort of beany bags into my back when I go to bed because I have a job sleeping on my back also

I usually have to keep looking round for them. I bought a really cheap one and it soon started ;'moulting' the little foam beads inside.

    Good luck

One thing that can make a shoulder hurt is that your pillows are not high enough and the weight of your head pushes down on the point of your shoulder. Try an extra pillow to lift your head a bit and see if that helps.

Hi, When I was at work, we used thin soft pillows or towels put in pillow cases and fleeces until the person was comfortable. If you find your legs and knees get sore, put a thin, soft pillow between your legs.

Hope you find something that works for you. Have you asked an OT? They might have a few ideas.

i have this problem and have found a few things that help!
firstly, i bought a memory foam pillow that helped but after about a week of using it the pain came back, so oddly i alternate using the memory pillow for a few nights then i go back to normal pillows for a few nights, and so on!
but i have to get the pillows just right, i aim to use either one or 2 pillows, quite firm ones, that make my neck and shoulder at a perfect (or as near as!) right angle. that makes for a comfy night!
if my neck aches before i go to sleep i get my wheatie bag warmed up and put it round my shoulders to ease the pain!
i see this is a common problem though!

Hi, I love my memory foam pillow, sometimes when my neck is driving me mad, even during the day, I go up and lie on my bed for half an hour. Lazy, yes, but I do find a brief rest often helps the neck sort of stretch out and be comfy for a while. Better than pills! I don't, well not on purpose, go to sleep, I also have a memory foam topper. I do hope you can get a bit more comfy in bed. :)

    Hi Lynn
maybe it IS to do with pillows then? Problem is I get a stiff neck if I amd any higher. Bet they are right though......makes sense doen'st it?
    MMM
Yes we need to do trials on this one!
Do both your shoulders hurt? Both mine do but left most (I think I prefer to sleep on that side).

    Hi everyone,
it does seem to be a real problem for lots of us. I have trouble with my hips and my shoulders and can't sleep on my back. What I use is my pregnancy pillow. It's a full length body pillow that is supposed to support a bump (and did once). However I find now that if i lie with my back into the pillow (instead of the missing bump) I get a better nights sleep. I don't know what they would be called in the UK as I got mine when I lived in California. Maybe googling pregnancy body pillows might help and see what shapes you can find. I paid about $50 (roughly £30) for mine and 4 years later I still use it!
