Hiya,

I have had a swollen foot since Sunday, i saw my rhmer on Monday and said it was just the RA. Its stil not coming down and its realli painful, i can hardly walk, my partner has to help me down the step at my bungalow. Its just not going down and its really painful, ive recently started new RA drugs and ive been taken co-codmol.

I dont no wether togo to the GP'S to see if there is anything he can give me cuz its realli annoying me, plus im worried about my circulation in my foot as i have heart condition. Would i be wasting there time by going?

Thanks In Advance

hi,its never a waste of time seeing your gp,if only to put your mind at rest.
have you tried the usual advice, ice to get the swelling down, elevate the foot.
i havent got RA so i dont know much about your meds,or what the gp can give you.
much best to get some advise.

If you're worried go see your GP....
If it puts your mind at rest....then that in itself is worthwhile.

I'm so sorry to hear about your painfull swollen foot. I'd say don't just leave it, I don't want to worry you but it might need something extra to get better. Putting it off may not be a good idea.
When my foot became swollen and inflamed and painful I had to be admitted to hospital as I'd left it for ages before getting anything done about it as I did'nt want to "bother" anyone. I was unable to walk for nearly 3 weeks with it before I actually got anything done. I would say ring your GP and get it seen to, they may be able to prescribe short term stronger painkillers until it settles down a bit. I also had to have the fluid drained off and sent to the lab to see if there was infection present so they may need to do something like that too.
good luck and do let us know how you get on. I hope you get some sleep.
    big hugs rita.

    Hi Madness,

I don't want to alarm you but when the same thing happened to me some years ago I went to my GP and she sent me straight to the hospital with a suspected DVT. They gave me heparin injections over a period of 5 days, I had to have a veinagram and then be on a course of Warfarin for a few months.

Best to see your GP and get it checked out I'm surprised you Rheumy just dismissed it as your arthritis.

I'd be interested in what he has to say.
