hi i have posted a few times about my husband he has got sever RA he is on all the usuall stuff also he is on embrel he started MTX injections about 5 weeks ago the rummy has decieded that he can inject himself now so has organised for it to be deliverd at home instead of going every week to the hospital. He went today for his last injection at the hospital and when the nurse was doing it she said that he had a bruise and did he have any lumps anywhere and he should keep an eye on it.
i was just wondering if anybody else has had bruising or is it just me being paranoid he has been through such a lot and sometimes i wonder how he copes people with RA are so brave with all the meds you all have to take .
hope you are all doing ok and not in to much pain.

Hello Alison......
I'm on Mtx....been on its only 8 weeks.....oral
Since taking it I seem to bruise very easily.....
The slightest knock and it looks like I've been 'bashed'...
And the slightest cut or graze bleeds like hell..

Hi - methx knocks the immune systems and the way the body deals with things so bumps show more and cuts etc take longer to heal!!!!!
just tell him to be careful - but worth the side effects if it calms the RA!!!!

Hi, I have severe RA and take MXT by injection, I bruise really easily, I think that it is all to do with the beast that is ok, he could ask for a blood test to make sure he is not anaemic. Also doing the injections at home is not a problem, he will soon get used to it love Jaspercatxx0

Hi there,
I am also on Enbrel and 10mg Mtx. I bruise and bleed very easily these days so try and be a bit more careful. I am also never far away from my bottle of antiseptic so that if I get a cut/graze I can clean and cover the 'wound'. I have found if I leave things to heal by themselves it takes weeks. I also use mouthwash alot to help my ulcers and where I chew my cheeks in my sleep!
Best wishes to you and your husband, I hope you are on the road to finding the right balance of meds.
A xx
