the day has arrived!!!!!

Guess what after all that waiting!!! The day has come!!! The hospital rang me yesterday and asked if I'd be prepared to come in next Tuesday night for a Wednesday TKR operation!!! Don't know whether I am excited or petrified!!! But hey, it's here!!!

    Hi Soozyquoo :D

    Just to wish you all the very best with your TKR. Look forward to hearing how you are getting on, once you are back home and got yourself sorted, so to speak. I had one knee done in January 2008 and it has been fantastic.

    There are quite a few of us on here that have already had the op, so don't hesitate to ask any questions and we will all do our best to answer them and help you along, that is if you need any help.

    That is good news for you, and I can understand your apprehension. I will be very interested to hear how you get on because I need a TKR, but can't make up my mind about it. I am very nervous, so I hope you might be able to reassure me.

    Thanks for all your lovely responses and good luck wishes. I have received the letter from hospital, have to be in 2 p.m on Tuesday, so now seems more real!!!

    I've got one of my artist friends having hers done on Wednesday too. It's her second one

    I hope everything goes well for you. I'm waiting to hear when I go in for my TKR. I've been doing lots of little jobs around the home etc. I've bought most of the Christmas presents online and plan on wrapping them all up next week. I'm also going to do write all the Christmas cards.

    My mother-in-law is threatening to come and look after me for a week!!! I hope to goodness she doesn't!!

    How long have you been on the waiting list? You must be all over the place.

    Please let us know how you get on (I'm slightly terrified)!!!!

    Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery. Make sure when you get home you're waited on hand and foot!!!

    Hey was supposed to have a new knee today, had a call from hospital yesterday to say that there were no beds!! Had to go into today, saw the anaethotis (err) had blood pressure etc. Then got told operation was cancelled because they couldn't find me a bed!!! Deep joy!! Gotta wait another 4 weeks for a letter to arrive!!
    Well and truly fed up!!

    Oh Soozy, what a b*****.
    All that hype and then, as usual, hospital let you down. Unfortunately, it depends on what arrives at the A&E door. Also, the Swine Flu is bringing people into hospital. Staff ill and then not enough of them for each bed. There are so many factors to take into consideration.

    You take special care of yourself for the next 4 weeks and keep everything crossed so to speak.

    What a disapointment for you. Do try to hang in there, perhaps you will get an earlier call fingers crossed for you. I've heard this can happen a lot in the NHS and has done for some time I'm afraid.

    So you are feeling slightly calmer. I can understand how you feel. Just going to hospital for a simple appointment is stressful, because you don't know how you are going to be understood.

    This is a really serious let down - you can only now use this time to get things all ship shape ready for the big day. Try and keep your mind active so that you don't sit and dwell on it. Not easy.
