DLA and motability

Got a little query.
My DLA is up for renewal early 2011 and I have a motability car which is due for changing in September 2010. I've been told to put my application for new car in April but I will have less than a year left before DLA renewal.
Will I still be allowed to apply for motability car?
Its the only car we have and a complete God send. My condition hasn't got better (unfortunately) and has in fact got worse but I'm happy with the level of support from DLA as I wouldn't qualify for high rate care.
I'm going to give the DLA people a bell but was wondering if any of you lovely people had been in a similar position?
