Yet another infection - thoroughly cheesed off!

Hi,
my turn to rant tonight
I thought it was too good to be true when I finally got to restart my methotrexate on Wednesday. Five weeks I have missed through one infection after another ....... but on Wednesday I had my injection and thought I was on the way to feeling better.
Last night started with stuffy sinuses, and today they were lots worse, and it became obvious to me that there may be an infection.
Infections always do this at Weekends don't they? My GP is away this week, so I got an appointment tonight with the other GP. (Daren't leave it until Monday as it was bound to take a grip and take longer to get over.) He is always very thorough, takes ages, and writes notes more like essays. The upshot is I have to have antibiotics, he did a blood test (and said how inconvenient it was that I needed one on a Friday evening   not sure what I could do about that  ) and then said that he thought I should stop the Leflunomide until I could get advice from the Rheumy nurse on Monday. Andtstop the MTX.
So ... no Lef, no MTX next week as on antibiotics, and another week feeling rough. :x :x :x :x
I know things could be a lot worse, but I really really wish arthur would give me a break right now.

Oh Wonkey you are getting a bit greedy with these infections now. Seriously though have you seen the ENT specialist? I saw one last week and he said I had a sinus infection, gave me anitibiotics and nasal drops and I have a scan of sinuses next week and then go back and see him. I got all this from one visit about a blocked ear, yours has gone on far too long now.
Try not to let it get you down too much and spoil your weekend.
Love

Oh Wonkylegs, and i thought i was having a bad time :!:
So,so sorry to hear you're going through all this. It's just one thing after another isn't it? I don't think anybody has informed arthur that he doesn't need to work full time, he can have some leave
Sending a big ((((()))))
and some flowers
Hope you feel better soon
Luv Carol XXX0 -
Aw, Wonky, I am so sorry to read that you have yet ANOTHER infection. It is just not on. I wish arthur would give you a break too. Littlelegs is not going to be happy either is he, sensing that you are unwell yet again.
I do hope the antibiotics kick in soon and that you begin to feel better and hopefully can build up some resistance so that you have a well earned break from this vicious circle.
Luv

thanks for replying
Vonski .... too right Arthur is being gready with the infections! I hope he will get fed up soon and go away
I will talk to my own GP when she is back about whether we need to go elsewhere for a second opinion. It is only the second time I can remember having sinuses this horrid, so am hoping it will be the last.
Carol - thanks for the lovely flowers ..... made me smile.
Elna - you are so right about littlelegs .... she has had a busy day warning everyone away from our house - just the day to have 4 different deliveries  good job the neighbours were out! tonight I came up to go onto the computer and she followed me up here & only really settled down once I was back downstairs and her 'pack' were all together
right .... off to take my co-codamols and to stink the place out with olbas oil
sleep well all (((((((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))))))))))0 -

ARTHUR and INFECTIONS Will you please leave Wonky alone!

Thanks Chris!
Arthur will get the message soon i hope.
hope you have a good weekend - at least the rain went fairly early here ... but not looking forward to the cold coming!0 -
Hello Wonky
Poor you, really going through the mill. You must be feeling really low at the moment. If you don't mind me asking, do you have dairy products, milk, cheese, etc. If so, why not change to Soya.
I suffered dreadfully up to 10 years ago, Bronchitis twice a year. If I do eat a little bit too much cheese or perhaps have some custard or ice cream, then I can start feeling my sinuses and throat filling up.
I'm asthmatic too so the soya helps me no end.
Also Kelp tablets help.
I do hope you start feeling better soon, chin up
hugs from Joy0 -
Thanks Joy,
I must admit that I do have quite a lot of dairy - hadn't realised there was a connection with sinus problems. (not had this before) so will think about the soya .... have a friend who has it, but says it takes a bit of getting used to?
just waiting for the meds to start working.
have a good weekend0 -
Hi Wonky, sorry to hear that you have an infection, I think that you must be cornering the market, seriously though I hope things soon clear up and you can start your MXT again, will send you a card to cheer you up love Jaspercatxx0

Sorry to hear you have another infection. You're having more than your fair share of them. Hope it clears up soon and you get back on your meds. Meanwhile try to be good to yourself.

Hi wonky
I forgot to add that having soya helps with keeping your collestrial down aswell. I believe there was an article in Arthritis care last year about dairy products. I shall have to investigate

Oh no! Sorry to hear you're ill - I'm sure you've had your fill in the last few weeks! Now, sinuses - that is my area of expertise! (Unfortunately! ) Several ops and more antibiotics than I can count I seem to be sorted. but I sympathise massively. If it does continue and you get an ENT referral, do not let them fob you off without sticking the camera up your nose and looking properly (gross I know but needs must!) They cannot tell the state of your sinuses just by looking up your nose, whatever they say, and xrays and CT scans do not always give the full picture either. Snorting boiled, cooled salt water up your nose sometimes helps - aquirting it up with a plastic syringe from the chemist is often easier - I prefer tepid to cold it hurts less. Hope you feel better very soon! Take care, Josie x0

thanks everyone!
am feeling a bit better today, at least can breath through my nose quite a bit so throat is grateful
Will look into my back copies of Arthritis News to find the soya/dairy article.
I will remember your ENT advice ( sorry can't remember who said about ENT) I have had a camera up my nose before to look at my vocal chords (I know they are not up there  but it is how they get the camera down ) so know what it is like .....
I am sticking with the olbas oil in hot water for inhallations for now, but will bear the other suggestions in mind if needed later.
off for some tea now.
keep well everyone0 -
Sorry to hear your feeling unwell Wonky, hope the doctor can give you something to ease the discomfort, and you start to feel better soon.
