feel so ill

Hi guys.
I'm not in tears with depression today but i feel so ill. I was warned my anti depressents would probably cause nausea but early this morning i felt i was going to die. I have only been awake just over an hour (having had 9hrs sleep) and i am just so exhausted and still feeling a bit sick. I've had a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits to see if it will help settle but i'm just so tired i'm going back to bed. Yet another day without spending any time with hubby
I begining to wonder if i would have been better off not getting my diagnosis. Before, i had a permanent but very mild back ache (which i still do, even with meds) but it wasn't that often that i was in agony and i used to be happy!. It seems since popping all these pills (i'm on Fluoxetine, Diazepam, Co-Codamol and Arcoxia) i'm either in pain, fatigued, crying or feeling sick.
I wish i'd just coped with the pain myself like i did for the past 17yrs and never went to the DR.
Going back to bed now.

HI Carol,
I can understand what you are saying, but just try to remember that it takes time to get the balance, and also you don't know how bad you would feel without the meds.
I hope the sleep does you good, and I am sure that your hubby understands .... and will want you to do what you need to inorder to get better.

((((Carol)))) sorry you're feeling unwell due to your medication. Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon.
I do know what you mean though re the pain, since getting my diagnosis I seem to feel the pain more than before. Not sure if it's due to the fact I now have a reason for the pain or if there's more of it though.
Hope you manage to sleep and when you wake you feel a little better

Dear Carol
I do hope you feel better soon. You really are not having a good time of it all at the moment, are you? You may well have progressed with the aches and pains in your back since you were diagnosed. You say you had the symptoms for 17 years and coped but there comes a time when one cannot anymore as symptoms worsen. I have had a slight curvature of the spine for 44 years and coped with the off and on dull backache, blah, blah, but for one year now it has got much worse with pain of some sort most of the time and sciatica. I can no longer go for an enjoyable walk of any distance sometimes, no distance, without pain.I don't actually go walking for pleasure, which I used to love. My discs in my spine are condensing and the curve worsening slightly.
I don't think you would have been better off if you not been diagnosed. As for the pill taking, I think you would probably find that if you stopped them you would not go back to how it was. I do not recommend you try that though.
Hopefully when the antidepressants fully kick in , the side effects of them will diminish.

Hi Carol
Sorry you are feeling so ill, have you tried ginger for the sickness?
Did the meds help when you first took them? If they did do you think you overdid things and caused some damage? If not maybe you need different meds, there are quite a lot to choose from.

Hi, i had another 3hrs sleep, another cup of tea and managed to watch a dvd with hubby.
When i was 1st given the meds, i had been to the Dr because i was in a lot of pain and could hardly walk. The did take the pain away to a 'bearable' stage but didn't actually take the pain completely away but as i said, i always had a mild back ache anyway.
Before i was diagnosed, if i had a lot of pain, which was not often at all, i just had a couple of days rest then got on with life. When working, if i was bending or lifting a lot, i just used to think 'ooo my back' straighten myself up for half a minute or so then carry on with my job. It just seems since all the pills i have the bad pain a lot more often. There was 1 time, about 2yrs ago when i had what was the worst pain i had ever had at that time. I had 3 weeks off work and basically just rested. That was a long time off work but then i went just over abotu 18months without any pain (well, still had the mild pain) but things were fine. Since popping all these pills, i lost about 30days off work in the last 10 weeks. Doesn't that say something?
|Maybe i'm still going through the depression but i think that facts speak for theirselves, i was better before i saw the doc.

Hi Carol
This is the 3rd time I have tried to put out a message. The screen freezes before I have finished. I think we shall hve to call out our computer whiz kid.
I wanted to say I'm sorry you are going through a tough period. I think we all go through a 3 or 4 day period where our bodies just don't seem to be working properly and the pain level is bad Could be a virus or something. I must admit, that 'sick' feeling seems to be hanging around me most mornings since my 'relapse' the other week. I have a busy week and weekend coming up, so just hope I don't suffer for it afterwards.
I can only add that I agree with Vonski about the ginger. I love the ginger and lemon tea from Holland & Barrett. soon settles me down and gives me a nice warm feeling. clears the sinuses too.
Also, Aldi do a very nice 'Ginger' Bath soak. Makes you all warm and tingly in a good way.
I've changed my Co-codamol for the Extra Strength Paracetamols. My Pain Clinic said that they were more preferable to the cocodamol now .
Hope you are feeling better soon. Looks like we have lift off with the message. Good luck. love from joy0 -
Hi Carol
I'm sorry to hear that you're having a rough time with your health.
Have you been back to see your doctor? I hope some of the suggestions given by the others on this site will help you.
I'm planning on trying that ginger tea! I find Lidl's peppermint tea makes me feel restful and settles my tummy. I take it with a teaspoon of honey. If you don't mind mint then try it.
Let us know how you get on.
Regards and best wishes,

Hi all, thank you for all your replies.
I am feeling much better today but still don't have any energy. I have just worked out that in the past 29hrs i've been asleep for 21hrs. That's all i seem to do lately, sleep. Should i be giving into it or fighting it? I'm thinking, if i didn't need it, then i wouldn't be sleeping like that.
Thanks for the tips about ginger, i will certainly try that ginger tea but i hate peppermint tea :x
My dog is a cross between a labrador and a terrier. Not sure which breed of terrier though. She has the body of a lab but is a bit smaller and has the wiry/curly coat of a terrier but i have her hair clipped every 3 months which makes her look like a true lab

hi, It is a good thing to have your diagnosis, and given time, I sure you will see it that way too. Anti depressants take a while to work, and your body will get used to the drugs, if it dosn't you can go back to the docs and get him to review your medication. Their are lots of different anti depressents and one of them will work for you.
Ginger is good when you feel sick and pepermint. My Mum used to take Polo mints into hospital when she had surgery, which was a fair amount on her spine. She said they were really good and they gave us peppermint essence in hot water, after my hysterectomy when I was in hospital.
Take care of yourself and don't worry too much about other people, I'm sure you will be able to make things up to your hubby when you feel better and he would rather have a well wife, even if it takes a while!
Lots of love Sue0
