Anyone any experiences to share......good or bad, I can take it!

I was on Arcoxia one a day, which wasn't doing much good so my Rheumy wondered if taking this twice daily might help better. I do hope so!

I was on it for about 5 months (prescribed by Rhumy).......seemed to do the job.
But my GP was unhappy with it (side effects) so she changed me onto another med..

As with everything it does have it's side effects. I was on it in hospital and discharged on it. I stopped after about 1 week or 10days. Now I take it short term for about 5-6 days at a time. It has worked really well for me. I too was on Arcoxia, last year but it did nothing for me.I'm hope you are on something to protect your stomach as you will need it with any of these types of meds.
    Good luck.

Many thanks for your replies. I've taken 2 tabs (one last night; one this morning) and actually think I can feel a wee difference already.

However, it looks to me from the replies that this isn't something you can take long term so will just have to wait and see what else is planned for me!

I have to say they worked really quickly for me too and bearing in mind I was actually hospitalised you can imagine the pain I was in.
I too have started taking them again as I'm not great at the moment, this arthur is still quite active with me at times and I slept last night all night for the first time in months.
    best of luck

So sorry to hear you have Heart problems as well as the Arthritis donboon.
I would'nt honestly know if in any particular person the 2 are related donboon but I do believe there is lots of documentation indicating that Arthritis and Heart Disease can occur simualtaneously. www.arthritis.org/heart-disease-connection.php

With regard to particular drugs, Celebrex doesI belive have may cause heart problems documentated on it's side effects as do several other commonly used meds.
As with all meds it's a matter of weighing the benifits against the risks. That's where informed consent to treatment comes in I believe.

I have been taking Celecoxib for best part of 9 years (since I was in mid-twenties) and have never had any probs - find it is really good and doesn't interfere with my tum as much as the others used to. Not sure I can say it helps with the pain but definitely as an anti-inflammatory. I do notice if I don't take it for a few days (run out and lost track of all meds lol) my joints tend to start to stiffen, etc.

Hope it works for you x

I'm being started on this. I have stomach issues (being investigated for inflammatory bowel disease) and they said this is the NSAID that will be kindest to my stomach. Strangely enough, my GP said it might not be great for pain and that I'll still prob need co-codamol.

    Hi
I have been on celebrex for about a year. I am cirrently taking sulphasalazine too and prednisalone. When going to the blood monitoring clinic for the sulpha they told me my iron levels were quite low and were going to monitor it, agin it showed up low and she explained that being on celebrex long term cam cause iron deficiency. If it is low next week they are going to prescribe me a 3 month course of iron tablets. Not sure why I can't take them now, but hey ho, they know best and will it to the medical professionals to sort out. P.4. I have not felt an ounce different being on the celebrex, I have also stopped taking them for a couple of days a while back and didn't feel any different. Oi have been told to persevere so will continue to take them.
