Hi everybody,
I'm new to the forum. I've read lots with interest. I am 39. I have OA of neck, shoulders, knee and hip - most wear and tear through repeated rugby injuries and genetic influence. It's great to know there are people going through the same things as me. felt so isolated before. look forward to chatting with you

Hi Peter
Welcome to the site. You have OA in a horrid place - shoulders and neck. It must be jolly painful. I have it in my right shoulder and just lately it has started to get worse - also very badly in both knees. Waiting for a TKR.
I hope you enjoy using the site. I'm sure you'll find lots of useful advice from fellow sufferers. We all have our good days and bad!
Again welcome.

thank you all so much - what a welcome!
the shoulders, knee and hip can be not too bad - they are worse when I do things. the neck does really suck because it is always there and affects everything you do - reading, driving, computer. any fellow neck sufferers out there?0 -
Hi Pete
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your story. Sounds a familiar one! I never played rugby but the wear and tear thingy is similar. We lead an enjoyable, active life and believe that to be a good thing and then are rewarded with aches and pains for trying to keep fit and healthy! :roll:Some of us just can't win!
You have no need to feel on your own on this site! There are loads of us here all under the label of arthritis and we try to help and support each other as much as is possible.
Hope to see your name around the forum in the future,
Luv

Yes there are quite a few folk on here with neck and top of spine problems. I've got really bad neck and shoulder and top of my spine problems which have gotten much worse in the time it's taken to get a proper diagnosis. I have both OA and PA. I've found that acupuncture helps a bit but only lasts for a short while now. I also use the TENS machine but again it only works sometimes. The pain and stiffness causes me to migraine headaches as well as really bad pains in different parts of my head. I'm hoping now that the methotrexate will help.
good luck

Welcome from me too Peter...I only joined the forum a couple of days ago and already feel part of the gang...it's great to have the understanding and support of others without feeling guilty about having a wee moan!!!
Like some of the others I have a combination of PA and OA and, yes, I have pain in neck and shoulders too (sometimes I AM the pain in the neck!!). Apart from the meds I find heat is the best way of relieving the pain and stiffness.
Anyhow, enjoy being part of the arther family...look forward to sharing thoughts etc on the forum. Dorcas x0 -
Hello Peter, i'm 35 (today actually!) so very close to your age and have OA in my spine. I was only diagnosed a couple of months ago and the guys here have been so helpful and supportive to me and i'm sure they will to you too. We share the laughs, tears, moans and get through day to day life with the help of each other. We are all in the same boat and we've all had our good and bad days.
Looking forward to reading more posts from you
