I do hope there was no anxiety or fear caused by my posting last night on swine flue. My intentions are only to offer others who I care about, some of the richness of thought and insight I have and continue to have about this subject of swine flue and vaccination.
what I read on the websites, I treat always as interesting hypotheses, almost 'stories' unless or until the 'truth' of what they say becomes apparent to me.
One may learn a lot, or at least have ones mind enlarged, on this topic, which is my intention. be informed and empowered in ones actions and choices. But have no fear, never.
The website 'the flue case' I would be extremely circumspect about the agenda and thinking behind it, but, it does have updates on a daily basis taken from the worlds media, again back anything you read by your own understanding and research. Or simply ignore it!!
It is important we are each empowered as far as we can be in these matters, and I do say we should always listen firstly to the doctors and professionals who help us for most of the time with our condition as they are good people.
but again the final arbiter in any treatment always and should always be ourselves.
One thing I can say with absolute certainty however, is, we should have our Vitamin D3 boosted especially in winter - i am taking now, at least 2000 IU daily of D3 at this time of year-when the sun is at its lowest. It greatly improves our immune responses. Also consider colloidal silver.
so, best wishes to everyone,
Nick

Hi, Nick what I posted late last night about my experience of a certain high profile programme editing interviews to get the answers they want is perfectly true. I hope you didn't take it personally as I agree we should all use freedom of choice about these things. I just wanted to share an experience I have had. Its quite upsetting when you hear yourself misquoted on TV.
I just wanted to warn everyone that sometimes things arn't what they seem. I respect what you are doing with your health, its not easy to research these things and reading scientifc data can drive you nuts. I used to have to read it and type it up into reports and I have misread things and caused great hillarity.

I agree with everything you have said Sue, totally. what frightens me is the way this may be going, there is much I will not say to anyone on a public forum like this as it could cause many upsets, but my fear is we are being led - I may be completely wrong though-and it is so easy now to get information on all this and bear in mind even the true professionals are in strong disagreement on all this and each side have full scientific data to back up their views.
The problem is we either do as the powers that be tell us , or we look a bit deeper and make our own informed judgment. My desire is that we be empowered to do this, , if the experts cannot agree, ( I would refer you to Len Horrowitz, and Dr. Carly,) their views are very powerful, but it is imperative we filter what we read, through common sense and our sense of what makes sense to us. if it does not we should dismiss it.
I may start looking into the scientific data on all this as an interest in itself including the molecular biology of the virus etc. and of the adjuvents.
But at least we are more able to make an informed judgment as regards our own health and if we are happy forgetting all the ''Nonsense'', and simply following department of health guidelines which may be extremely valid, then we should be happy with making that decision.
I have no desire to scare people in any way and have emphasized this, but all new knowledge brings one to the limits of ones own experience and is breaking new ground, something we must each deal with. But part of our duty to each other is to inform them of things we have learned if it s for their own welfare , this was always my concern.
so, sorry to go on, my mind is far too active so, I am going out, saying to heck with the petrol and enjoying the sun while it lasts.
I hope all is well with you, and that this is the last I will say on all this,
very best wishes,

Hi, I agree that we should make informed choices especially about our own health and of course, you're right, experts do disagree. Its a hard task you've set yourself, as their is so much information on the internet. I try to stick to the UK, well known sites, they are reputable and peer reviewed, of course, they may also be wrong! I can think of some really big mistakes that have been made and some people that have misled others for financial gain or altered the data slightly to make the figures add up so they can prove a point. The MMR is one of those, altered data to misinform. Its hard to know, even if you are an expert. Good luck Nick, people get lucky sometimes and stumble on something that has been overllooked, you never know, and it can be interesting, even if you only understand every second word!!! Thats me, I mean not you!

Nick, I am glad you have made your own mind up about the vaccine based on your experiences with OA.
I have lupus, RA, and OA, diabetes and asthma. If I took your supplements and boosted my already overactive immune system, I would be extremely ill. I took ecchinacea once on someones well meaning recommendation and ended up in hospital.
You should not be recommending supplements, we all have differents health conditions and complaints, apart from arthritis. I notice you provided no quotes to back up your supplement claims.

I have said far to much now, but as for supplements, like all else, we should use common sense and what I say refers to those of us who have no underlying problems. Those who have 'normal' health shall we say, however that is defined. Vitamin d3 is produced in the skin by the normal action of sunlight, on the pigments in the skin. we do this every time we sunbathe or walk in the sun
It is vital for the immune system, and in winter in northern climates, when there is far less sunlight, we may have a deficiency of vitamin D3. It has been theorized that this lack of Vitamin D3 may account on part for the onset of influenza and colds and coughs and such.
Our immune system needs perking up in winter. In your case Debbie and others, it may not be a good idea, but we should all judge according to our own personal condition. this should be common sense, I hope
so, no more recommendations just this information I hope it is useful to someone,
I only mention these things simply to share my own research with others, no other reason, than that. So we may all benefit, not just myself.
Now, back to hibernation!!!!!!
best wishes,

Hi Sue,
I stick to using pubmed for my information. They are all peer reviewed (I'm on of the reviewers!) but even then, as you say, there is a surprising amount of bad science out there. I always read very carefully the methods sections when reviewing to make sure that what they want to test has been tested and so many times it hasn't. I reject the work outright then but they will submit it elsewhere until someone lets it past. The hardest thing is for the general public to know what to trust and they cannot be expected to know how to interpret the validity of the science. I've spent 15 years studying it and I only stick to my area of expertise. It's such a shame that the media are not more responsible but again they are not expert scientists either in most cases. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who is able to spot the rubbish and ignore it but I'm sure that I miss some as well. Even Drs and consultants aren't going to get it right for 100% of patients, they can't be an expert in everything, but they are the best source of information that we have and they can apply it to your individual circumstances.
Sue, what area does your husband work in?woodbon wrote:Hi, Nick what I posted late last night about my experience of a certain high profile programme editing interviews to get the answers they want is perfectly true.
