Hello,
I don't know if anyone noticed, but on the thread I started 'ESA Why is it so hard to claim?' I said that I would write to my MP? Well, I found his Web page and sent him an e-mail and I've just been looking through my e-mails and found that his secretary has replied, saying that she 'will bring this to his attention'. Oh well, thats the last I'll hear of that I bet! still at least it was a reply, even if it was just a standard letter and it must have been sent straight away, so thats something in his favour.

    Hi Sue

When I have written to my MP via email, I have always had a reply after an acknowledgement.

I received the reply by post each time but the acknowledgement was by email.

    Luv

It would be nice to think that its at least brought to their attention of the powers that be, but its impossible to tell. I've never done anything like this before, but with all the stories I've heard and my own experience, at least its something to do, their is'nt much else that might make a tiny difference. Love Sue

    hiya
I spoke to my mp regarding being turned down for ESA. But I didn't want to write an email as I'd done this before and got the usual hard cheese reply. I wanted him to meet me and to show that I'm a normal, intelligent person who has tried to stay in employment but has now been forced to rely on the benefit system. I wanted to show him that even after filling out all the forms and jumping through the hoops we have to deal with a rubbish and unhelpful system.
We decided that I was to keep going with the appeals process and if that failed he would take it further. But I think that even if I manage to change the decision I will ask him to take it further as the system just doesn't work!
Its so frustrating but I'll keep hoop jumping!

Hi, That was a very good idea, to let him see you, as its hard to tell from an e-mail, what a person is really like. It also shows him that you are really serious. I think you are right to ask him to take it on, whatever, as there are so many poeple that are effected. I wonder how many people get refused and then just manage to struggle on, not being well enough to claim Jobseekers Allowence. The stupid thing is that if we all had a majic pill one night and woke up fit and well, the Jobless total would go through the roof!

Years ago, I met this guy and was quite impressed with his attitude towards very disabled people. He visited my work-place, the only MP to do that.

    Hi Sue
Veering off subject slightly but just watched a prog on ITV about benefit fraud & am fuming at how some people on it got away with every disability benefit claim under the sun for years when there was nothing wrong with them. GRRRR!!
Here we all are struggling every day & getting turned down. Did anyone else see it? What about that bloke who breakdanced on Britain's Got Talent!!
So angry that these people have made government suspicious of genuine people.
Rant over for now - sorry!
