Had a THR in mid July and all has been well but the other day I moved my daughters toy smart cycle(the one you attach to the T.V) and ever since have had a sharp twinge insise my operated thigh.Sometimes it spreads to my knee and now my inside ankle.I had to stop walking this morning and dropped everything on the floor as the pain was so severe.Pain has gone now but left with a numb feeling in my knee(might be from when rubbed it this morning cos it hurt).
I see my Rheumatologist next Thursday.Do you think I have damaged something from lifting the bike.Should I wait until I see her.I am not sure what to do!should I rest it or keep moving?
Best wishes
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry to read that but think its worth mentioning to someone before next thursday. Have you got a physio? Maybe you could ask the duty doctor to give you a ring rather then go and see them? Hope it settles for you soon though. Cris x0 -
Hi Elizabeth,
I think the best person to ring would be your surgeon or his/her secretary just to tell them what's happened - you could have damaged your soft tissue and the joint be fine - but it's always best to be on the safe side.

Hi Elizabeth
I agree with Linda, best if possible to call your consultant or his secretary. You are obviously worried about it and in pain every now and again and need reassurance and next Thursday's rheumi appt is a week away and would he know the answer, I wonder .......

Hello,
I agree, you need help as soon as possible, just to check things over. If you have hurt your new joint, I think the sooner you have help the better as when you walk on it you could be making things worse. Better safe than sorry I had a hand op in June and in July we went to the lake district. We stopped for a short walk, and I fell on the wet grass. My husband, and to be honest I, were worried as it looked horrible, so went to the local hospital and had x-rays, it was fine, and you may well find your problems is nothing to do with the surgery, but you do need to know. Gosh, I've done it again, gone on! Hope you go and get sorted, love Sue0 -
Hi Elizabeth
Could you 'phone your GP for advice?
Hopefully someone will give you some more useful advice.
I hope you feel better soon.

I never thought about contacting the surgeon. I dont want to cause a fuss if it turns out to be nothing.I am resting as much as poss today and will see how it goes over the weekend.I slept well so that was a good sign and the pain went for the rest of the day apart from the odd twinge here or there. All the best.

Hi Elizabeth
How are you today? I am 3 weeks post THR & can imagine it is a worry still further down the line, that one has overdone it. Personally I would do as the others advised & get it checked out. Cannot do any harm, I'm sure it's fine but just for your own peace of mind.
