Hi! has anyone in the forum had a total wrist replacement or know anyone who has ?

I've had a fusion of the left wrist this year and am going to have total wrist replacement of the right wrist earlyish next year. Don't know a great deal about total wrist replacement (should have asked more questions of the surgeon!) and there isn't much in the way of research or statistics on the net....

So far I haven't met or spoken to anyone who has had a wrist replacement but would be keen to hear from anyone who has etc. thanks. Dorcasx

Hi, Sorry, I haven't had the op but, I do have arther in both wrists! It not something that I've heard of, but sounds very clever as the wrist does move in so many ways. Love Sue

    Hi Dorcas,

Both my wrists fused their selves before any replacements were ever mentioned, so sorry can't help - I don't think wrist replacements are very common - in fact you're the first person I've ever come across.

You could be the one telling us all about it, in saying that, I hope someone can help you out.

    Thanks Sue, thanks Linda!

Even though you haven't had this type of op it's good to know that there are others around who are interested...don't feel so isolated since being part of the forum.

I asked the helpline too for any info on wrist replacement and was signposted to a couple of sites. Seems that it is a fairly new procedure so there is not much out there by way of statistics, research into success rate etc.. in fact the NICE fact sheet just about put me off!!

Still hoping that I will hear from someone who has had the op for a first hand account (pardon the pun! ha ha)

thanks again lovelies. will let you know how I get on . Dorcas x
