Hi

I had a mammogram last week. I received a letter today and I've got to go in for further tests on Monday - apparently it'll all take about two hours. I was terrified when I received the letter and I'm hoping that it's nothing to worry about.

So, I'll be glad when Monday is over.

Hope you guys are well.

Sharmaine

    Hi Sharmaine,
Just to say I will be thinking of you on Monday and I do hope all goes well. I'm sorry I can't offer any advice, never having had things like that done, but with a bit of luck they'll just be double checking everything. Take care, love Josie x

Sorry to hear you've been recalled, perhaps your GP can shed some light on what's happening. Good luck on monday, hopefully it's something they can sort out.

    Hi Sharmaine,

What a worry for you I think we'd all feel like that if it happened to anyone of us. I hope things are fine but best to have them double check than miss something.

Good luck for Monday and let us know how you go on as we'll be wondering.

Whatever we say I know you will be worried, I sympathise. Not sure if your letter says what the tests are but I had to have a follow up ultrasound scan as they are a bit clearer. It was nothing more than that in my case. Hope all goes well for you.

    Hi Sharmaine

I was recalled after a mammogram a few years ago and it is a real shock and scary so I do know what you are going through. I had to wait 2 weeks, I think it was. In the end it was calcium deposits or something that had showed up and a note was made to that effect and I was told that I would never be recalled for that reason again. I was there quite a time too, I remember but everyone was very kind.

I know you cannot help worrying because I did, it is only natural, but I thought I would let you know about my recall and hope that yours is something similar.

    Luv

    Hi Sharmaine,

I was recalled a couple of years ago. Its very scary and you can't help but worry.
I had to go to our local hospital, and have a needle biopsy. After numbing the area, a nurse approached with what looked to me like a horrendously BIG needle! However, she and her colleague chatted away to me all the time, in fact she was sooo funny she had me laughing all through it :)

Waiting for the result was worrying but in my case it was calcium deposits (calcification) and, like Elna, I was told it was nothing to worry about and I wouldn't be recalled for that again, now they had established what it was.

Good luck and try to think positive.

    Hi

Thanks everyone for your messages. I'm going to try and put it at the back of my mind. I suppose it's only natural to worry. The hospital are certainly getting a good look at my body .... six weeks ago it was my knees now its my boobs.

Hello, It must have been a shock, but its very, very likely nothing. But I will be thinking of you and glad to hear how things go. A large number of the call backs are image problems and they want to do the test again. Thinking of you. Love Sue xxx

    Hello Sharmaine

You must be 'churning' inside. It must have been such a shock to get a letter like that. I'm sure everything will be fine. I shall be thinking of you and I'm sure everything will be OK. There have been failings in the past over mammagram results and problems have not detected. At least you can assure yourself that they are on your case and are looking after you. Good luck for Monday.

Just to add, my sister has a lump in one of her breasts but it is benign - she's had it 22 years now - so to reassure you, not everything to do with the breasts is sinister.

    Hi Sharmaine,

It is the worry and not knowing that is awful .You are made to feel a recall only means bad news arent you? but I am glad to see thats not often the case.
    Good luck for Monday
    Best wishes

    Hi again

I'm grateful for your messages and I'm not going to let it bother me until I know results of the tests.

I'm not looking forward to all the prodding etc but it's all for my benefit so I'll just let them get on with it. I'll be glad when I know what's going on.

    Regards

    Hi Sharmaine

I would just like to add my best wishes for you on Monday. I've had a lot of breast problems, too numerous to list, and each time I get worried when I have to have tests etc, but the medical staff are very kind and helpful On each occasion, the problem has been nothing too serious, so now I don't anticipate the worst.

    Good luck for Monday

Hi, I hope all goes well for you, i was recalled 3 years ago, i was worried sick at the time, i had to have a ultrasound on a particular area of the breast, i was given the thumbs up, and had a routine mammogram again in july this year and all is ok, it's best to be on the safe side and get checked out thoroughly, normally it turns out to be nothing to worry about. Take care Diane x.

    Hi again

Thanks for your comforting words. I had a small cyst on my left breast about 20 years ago - it was benign and dispersed on its own.

Your comments have made me calmer and I'm going with the view that I'm in the right place for them to sort out any problems or indeed to tell me things are ok. I think it's the waiting that is worse - don't you? I've got a busy weekend so I won't have time to mull things over.

I told my son and poor lamb was more upset that I was. I told him that he wasn't to worry because I didn't know for sure what was happening. Someone has to get these things and nobody wants it to be them. If that person turns out to me then I'll face it. Mind you I don't have any of the signs of anything serious so I'm hoping that all is ok.

    Thanks again.
